Sucker Punch (New Movie)

Lemme copy what I said on my Facebook status about how I felt on Sucker Punch after I saw it tonight.......

My opinion on Sucker Punch

Fanservice wise: AWESOME

Overall (including story/plot and characterization crap): .............did I mention fanservice? LOL........yeah, the plot is ****
...
But, FANSERVICE *thumbs up*

Can you guys that liked this move please explain what it was exactly you liked about it? I mean the newest RE movie was better than this trash IMO, and I hate the RE movies.:sly:

Let me put it this way, the trailers advertised that it would throw in girls, guns, swords, explosions, samurais, zombies, robots, knights, dragons, androids, imagination, etc... Now would that really make any sense? Now would that lead to an awesome story? Of course not, but if it did, then it would be great! But it didn't, which was very expected.

Now given that it lacked any epic story other than the simple:
Girl loses everything she loves (everything worth living for), gets locked-up in an insane asylum, meets girl that has everything worth living for outside the said insane asylum, digs within herself to mask reality with imagination (Shutter Island style) helps her get out but in the process gets caught and is lobotomized (which was ok since she has nothing worth living for anyway).
Yet having everything else which was hinted in the very beginning, which we knew wasn't really going to make any real sense, then I'd say it did deliver what it advertised. And let's face it, there are a lot of people who appreciated how different themes were mixed , and of course every single theme was definitely a form of fanservice to any fan of that said genre, so it's not a bad movie in that perspective.

So basically what you're saying is that a film only has to incorporate ideas that people find appealing in conceptualization in order to succeed as "what it is"? If that were really the case, wouldn't Uwe Boll movies be enjoyable?

Uhmmmm...

Some people like it... Some people won't... That's just how it is. There have been crappier movies than this one and they've grossed more money than those thought provoking ones. Just deal with it and move on.

Saw it yesterday.. All I got to say is huh? You watch the trailer then the movie.. Your like wtf! The trailer and the movie itself are like totally two different things.. When you watch the trailer your like cool a kick action movie... Then when the thing finally airs your like.. What the **** is this crap...

P.S. If your going in the movie thinking it an action type movie... You be mistaken.. It's a mind fucking movie... The few action scenes are all in the chick mind..

So can you tell us how was the trailer different from the movie? Since the trailer pretty much summed up everything that went on in the movie.

I don't know with you, but a lot of people still enjoyed it.

Sashi, my man lol. You gotta admit the movie probably wasn't what you expected it to be.

And don't pull the "You're right, it exceeded my expectations!" card..nahh..that's cheating.

Why? Do you have a clue what I was expecting? I expected:

Girls [x]
Guns [x]
Swords [x]
Explosions [x]
Huge ass Samurais [x]
Zombie Nazis [x]
Goblin Knights [x]
Dragons [x]
Androids [x]
etc. [x]

To tell you what I didn't expect:
Almost all of them died...

Did you guys really think that the combination of themes were going to make sense? Really? Heck, it was advertised that it's all going to be in the mind, that imagination will be the key to the movie, yet you were expecting a world where we can have both samurais, zombies, and androids in the same plane of existence? C'mon now.

As I said, it's typically like Shutter Island, where a person who has experienced a huge traumatic blow to their morality, masks it with an alternate reality for the brain to easily process the events.

It's pretty elementary, so I'm not sure why people are complaining other than the fact that they were expecting too much from something that should just be a figment of the imagination.

My ex-girlfriend was a psychologist, so she pretty much explained to me phenomenons in which the brain tries to replace reality with something else back when we were together, so understanding the events in both Shutter Island and Sucker Punch wasn't really that hard to accept.
