I enjoyed the first 2 episodes a lot. I'm going to review it sometime this week.

I'm kind of on the fence on whether it's really good or not. On one hand it's semi-original and the conflicts seem interesting, and on the other, it seems like they put the "Grittier" and "Adult" meters a tad-bit high. I think I'll wait and see a few more episodes before making my mind up.

At least it was good to see a few cameos from the SG-1 cast while we still can. If this premise is to be believed we might not see much more of SGC dealings for quite a while.

I rolled my eyes at the sex scene was way over the top and not really needed. I want to watch some pump action I'll download a porno :loltongue:

The whole thing had the visual feel of a BSG porno. Nearly put me off how pacy and good it is.

Start with Stargate framework, add a lot of Battlestar, a little Lost in Space (Rush = Dr. Smith) and some Sliders (a time limit for exploring a brace new world!) and you have this new show.

Young is the Col Hammond/Dr. Wier as opposed to the lead I expected him to be. The large problem is Lt. Scott doesn't have the charisma of O'Neill/Mitchell/Sheppard. You need that hat to hang the hook on and he's a bit straight-up marine.

It could get better.

Rush is probably hiding some things, since we never saw what he did back on earth, but it's likely he's not as shady as he seems.

I thought Scott's scenes with Eli showed his more Human side, more than the raunchy/gratuitous broom closet scene. Also the scene he had with Chloe was nice and simple and showed that he was more than just a gung ho soldier type.

I think the medic (TJ?) and Young have something going on, weather its just a familial type of relationship, or something more I don't know.

It did feel like BSG-lite at first, but I think it did a good job of shaking that by the end of the second hour. I like the whole time limit thing with the ship and the stargate. It makes sense for there to be a time limit since the Gate probably stays open while the groups are off world. I'm hoping the time limit changes according to the danger level of the planets.

You know anything Stargate related isn't going to be too dark.

Dr.Jackson's guide to everything Stargate related had me rolling. :laugh:

Not too bad.
Certainly a step up from some of SG-1...

Does feel like it's trying maybe a little too hard to be all edgy and big and serious, definitely feeling like BSG/ Lost a bit. The jumping between three different times felt a bit disjointed and confusing but it made sense in the end.
I'm not sure what to feel about the leading man, it's nice that he's different, but it's going to be hard to connect to him without something more being brought out.

I loved it. I can't wait to see more. The Doc just comes off as a jerk and you know he is someone that will screw you. And every time he is trying to be nice, I feel like you have to look for the knife he just stab you with. The show is cool man.

I didn't see it that way at all. If anything, he's NOT marine, because he's more of a kid than the other "big hero" types of SG. He's barely been on missions, he clearly doesn't know what to do in a lot of situations, so he just fakes his way through. The "sex scene" was there to show his lack of professionalism (as well as establish his connection to Random Military Chick).

... I like all of this, in case it's not clear. He's not perfect, not sure of himself, and definitely in over his head. And it's awesome.

Eli is also a god. >_>

I was mostly going into the fact that he lacks the charisma and wit of the previous nominal leads, which I contend is a large part of the Stargate 'feel'. Whereas Eli slides right into the McKay role quite nicely.
