Heroes are forever
It's not the end result that changed, it's the reasons that led to that end result that change. As was said, the message of the movie and the Showa team's motivations change. The Heisei ending is literally the same thing as the Showa ending.
Look people, you can complain about the flower thing all you want, but the truth of the matter is underneath the aesthetics the end result is basically the same.
Those that that don't see the big picture and go "lol kamen rider started in 2000" or those that are purists who don't even consider RX a true Kamen Rider are a vocal minority. But not even close to a majority. Very vocal. Very minor. It's not the fandom's fault at all. That is still the aesthetic detail, because both endings at the end deliver the simple message that this fight that the toku fandom have set up for a long time was utter nonsense to begin with. Sure, people currently complain about how "ugh why do Riders have to fight", but look back at all the comments previous and the thing is, people have been doing this dick-swinging for a while now. Showa vs. Heisei thing didn't come out of nowhere, and people probably even today on /m/ still constantly argue about Showa vs. Heisei, let's not even get into the weird rumours surrounding the whole tally thing. All the both endings pretty much do is lip-service to whichever side one happens to be on.
/m/ is barely a representative of the fandom considering anyone can say all kinds of nonsensical stuff due to the anonimity, and it's in a place that's not even dedicated to Toku itself. The Showa and Heisei arguments they have there are as much of a running joke as anyone that says Toku has no place being discussed in /m/ at all. "Where the hell is the mecha in Amazon?! His bike doesn't count." But it's just that, a joke. I'm not saying that as if to insult it, I mean they're actually joking/trolling when they're arguing about that.
This is why it's completely unnecessary to have them fight in the first place. No matter who wins, it doesn't matter because neither side here is actually any better than the other. That's the conclusion.
