Samurai Sentai Shinkenger - Talk Up!

Akumaro is nice and all, true, but the final baddie? Just two years ago the exactly same thing with Long, it would be too repetitive, even so it is. Same pattern, evil mastermind schemin for a long long time at the expenses of another villain, both of them half human by the way. The same damn thing. Nice and all to watch, personally it's the part I liked more in Shinkenger till now, Akumaro is great in design and as a character too, but...

You know, you're right. It's because is very late here, six in the morning. Shitty excuse, I know :-)

That aside, though, the pattern I said is there nonetheless.

When it comes to long term plans, Akumaro's a genius. To him, overflowing the Sanzu River is just pathetic and his idea of raising hell was more monsterous. It's too bad that Doukoku can't think very big.

He cannot support Akumaro's idea for the sake of himself. Because if Akumaro's plan had succeeded, Doukoku and his fellow Gedoushu would have been dead right now due to the vaporized Sanzu river.

But I agree that Doukoku does not seem to be a good strategist. He's all about anger and brute strength so far.

This. It did look at one point like they were setting him up to be worse than Doukoku but after Gekiranger it would have been same old. The Shinkengers vs Doukoku vs Akumaro, Juzo and Dayu idea might have worked, but then they really didn't leave enough episodes to set it up properly

You said you'll eat your hat if Takeru and Mako do not end as a couple, and to be so sure about this ship I would think you have something more solid than "fans says". But it seems you don't have it, since the only thing you keep sayin is "fans are shippin those two". Give some actual fact happened in the series that shows them being a future couple. At least five, not a random one thing happened once. If they really are going this route, I mean, 5 out of 43 eps it's not too much.

OK:

1. The fake wedding - Episode 8. I definitely think it looked like foreshadowing of some sort
2. End of Episode 6 where she tries to ask why the Ayakashi called him a liar. It was trying to establish "chemistry" between them and show that Mako can read Takeru well, and was the episode where several people started shipping Takeru/Mako
3. The whole of episode 39.
4. Any episode where she suddenly goes up to him to say something "wise" e.g. end of episode 23, she warns Takeru that Chiaki might surpass him one day. Episode 18 where they spar and she advises him to accept Genta. There are others and if you really want me to look them up, I will. She is actually being flirty during some of these moments as well.
5. Takeru insisting on taking Mako with him when they fight - eps 39, 42 and 43, some of the earlier ones too

1) In Act 22, Kotoha and Takeru had a mistress/butler relationship too. Foreshadowing? I liked that episode, but I don't go all my way to insist Kotoha and Takeru are gonna be a couple.

2) I'm not gonna disagree with you, but as the series continues, it seems more like they're trying to show that Mako is someone who can understand others easier than other people. Recently, she just said she understands why Genta let Juuzou go while he was hurt, due to her experience with Dayuu. So are you trying to say Mako wants to marry Genta now? lmfao.

3) The whole of episode 22 for Kotoha and Takeru. The whole of episode 3 (was it?) for Mako and Ryunnosuke. The whole of episode 19 (or was it 17?) for Mako and Chiaki. Little nuances along the the earlier episodes for Chiaki and Kotoha. Wow it looks like the whole cast of Shinkenger are gonna have mass orgy on the last episode. :)

4) Mako IS known for saying wise things throughout the series, I just mentioned this in an example in the latest episode when she mentioned about how she understands Genta. And ironic how you said she could say wise things when she herself is supposedly stupid for wanting to be a housewife.

5) oh my God, Kotoha just called me to say lazycoconut totally ignored her.

I really love your other thoughts, like about Juuzou, but the moment it comes to speaking about Mako and stuff like the ethos of a Samurai and all... it feels like you're a troll. You sound like you're insulting Mako, when after all, who are you to? Your great-grandmother in that era was probably a housewife too. Is she stupid/idiotic or whatever now?

And it takes BIG BALLS for someone to let his enemy go, especially knowing his enemy is hurt or at an disadvantage. In Magiranger, it was that exact reason that Kai wanted to understand more about Wolzard - because he fought like a true warrior.

Your thoughts about fighting would contribute more to the script of the next Saw movie, rather than a children's series like Super Sentai. :)

Breaking news! Women in the Samurai class were all expected to tend to the home. This means raising children, cooking, and daughters were mostly used for political marriages. The martial arts women learned were mostly to repel invaders. There were a few exceptions of highly skilled warrior women, but they far exceeded the roles expected of women (in addition to actually performing the roles expected of them).

Toei isn't necessarily sexist, but the entire Samurai caste is.

In light of this, it brings new perspective to the Kotoha character. I can see why she was written as the younger sister of the one who was supposed to be ShinkenYellow. If she were Mako's age, she would pretty much be a carbon copy of her character because that's how Samurai girls are supposed to act. It makes sense that Kotoha idolizes Mako because Mako is the ideal Samurai woman.

As an aside, if Kotoha were older, then she would be considered an old maid. Mako is at the prime marriageable age(possibly why she worries about it so much), any older and traditional asian sensibilities would say there is something deeply wrong with you. If nobody has noticed yet, Asian cultures value group harmony (family being the most vital) over individualism. This is not necessarily a weakness, more like a social norm.

Suffice it to say, lazycoconut, your modernist views are about two generations too late to resonate with anybody here. There's already post-modernism, and we are currently on the generation after that (I don't know if it has a name yet)
