Samurai Sentai Shinkenger rumor/picture thread

Lacking experience? Nerve? People are sexist. Of course the viewers are going to find a little girl lacking as the leader, when the previous one was a big strong bloke ...

Her status as a female is immaterial to story itself. If the real Shiba was a male the outcome remains the same ultimately. Much like Faith in Buffy TVS, whose point was to show why Buffy was needed as the Slayer. Faith later became her own character, but that requires more time, which FemRed will not have.

FemRed is there solely to shine a light on Takeru, otherwise she should have been introduced earlier in the story.

Are you saying they should have avoided making the True Lord female? Takeru remains the main protagonist, and as such, they have to give him a reason to return. Anything else makes little sense from a writing prespective. As Lynxara pointed out, this doesn't mean they have to make her a complete failure, but they need a reason for him to come back to the role.

It's a kids' show. Who are the viewers going to side with - a little girl that's been around for two episodes or the noble, brave, heroic, strong, handsome (etc. etc. puke!) Takeru that's been there all series? All they have to do is have Kaoru hesitate in battle, while Takeru gets an "I MUST GO ON" scene (possibly involving Juzou or Jii) and there we have it, Takeru's back.

Yeah, I don't think Toei is going to allow even a lady Red to violate Red is Strongest. That trope is older than the mecha in Sentai, it's not going anywhere. Kaoru wouldn't be put in Red if she wasn't in some way going to be adequately describable as Strongest, Toei would sooner give her a different color (say, White) and then do the same plot.

So if I was in this situation, I'd want to make sure the two Reds were Strongest in different ways. Japanese folklore and pop culture has long allowed the idea that when it comes to spiritual power, women will pretty much always be stronger than men, whose tendencies toward violence are believed to leave them more spiritually corrupt. (This is why there's a 85% chance that the best magic-user in any given JRPG will be a woman.)

Embracing this trope opens the door for Kaoru to have bitchin' mojikara without actually being the best fighter. It's playing off very old gender-related ideas about spiritual purity so chances of it offended anyone, even little boys, is pretty low. If I had to write Kaoru but also make sure Takeru wasn't marginalized, it's certainly what I would do.

Again, you're thinking from the wrong perspective.

They've given Takeru an out, by providing the True Lord. The internal struggle that he's carried since the beginning of the show, his tendency to be a loner, is now thrust to the forefront as he leaves the team. To provide closer to the story and this struggle, they need a reason for him to come back to the team. And with his sense of duty, I doubt he'll forcefully take the reins back. He'll be asked to return by his Lord. They need to bring him back to the team to close out his plot: the team needs him as much as he needs the team.

BUT! It has been established that only the true Lord can do the sealing so... my guess is FemRed provides the POWER, with the team provides the focus.

Again, it has nothing to do with her being female. It's completely dealing with her being the Temporary Replacement, the character intended to show why whoever is being replaced is needed. Young, old, male, female, whatever.

... why? That's nonsensical. We know nothing about the character other than her name and the fact that she is the real 18th Lord of the Shiba. That's like saying "Goseiger doesn't air till February, and we know nothing about GoseiBlack, but I've decided to hate him as soon as he pops up on screen"

Thats funny cause am decided hes going to be my favourite out of the Gosei's haha, erm true fine i'll decide to hate her after i see 45

Eh, I couldn't blame someone who really liked Takeru for just hating this plot in concept.

But... y'know, tough titties, it's happening. At this point you can drop the show or grit your teeth through the ending.

So how do you know she won't be awesome? Takeru likes her, or would like her :P

haha are your funny, who says Takeru likes her ??? we dont know his offciial story yet to why he is a decoy, after his story i will make up my mind when i see her , maybe he was forced at birth to be the decoy the lord??? whyy him all will be answered i hope in 45 , ok then i'll make my mind up

you talking about me really liking Takeru or the Lady lord, and if your talking about me, i hated the plot when i first heard it, but after i found she was female and younger i warmed up to it, but i want to hate her for causing Takeru pain, in 39 he said he cant be forgivin , maybe she is strict, if she is horriable after everything he has done for her then yeah i will hate her lol
i still kinda hate the fact he isnt the lord, i liked the story to it , but hey it all makes sense from episode one down to the last clue
