Yeah, my point being, it should have gave you the feeling of; "No wonder he was acting that way..." sort of thing now, although I know I did realize it and a couple of others too, but looking at the Shinkengers summary thread, it seems they didn't get that feeling.

that's supposed to be the reaction if the body language was all good. it's like a subliminal message telling us "there's something wrong here" and yet, it's not blatantly said or acted.

my reaction so far after learning that kaoru is the real lord, "no wonder he said that" instead of "no wonder he was acting that way." and that's a bad thing in the part of the actor.

NOW all of these holds in the assumption that there was just bad acting on the part of matsuzaka (not bashing, he's just new to this thing) and the writers didn't care for the body language or whatever.

it's a completely different thing if the writers demand that no body language must be given so that no hints are released throughout the middle of the series. doing so would increase the level of surprise for the audience (and a little for credit for the writing)

He did act all weird by initially not wanting to be protected by his vassals, not liking to be worshiped so much by Ryuu, not having problems being a butler of Kotoha, not having any value with his life initially by fighting strongly (hence Juuzo's statement that Takeru has become weak because he values his life more due to his growing attachment to his vassals throughout the series), etc. So as you see, some people are able to see that he acted it, though it was not enough to some. But for me, a person who had the "No wonder he acted that way" moment, I think he did have acting problems which you just mentioned, though I saw that he did try and it did register to me.

Again, as I've mentioned, this being a kid's show, allows guys like Tori who had no background in acting make a name for himself due to the fact that kids who really don't care too much in analyzing the actor's acting prowess are the target viewers, it just so happens adults like us still watch this show even though it was really meant for kids.

What I'd like to see is the reds having a showdown on who actually and eventually becomes the head. I mean, even if he's a decoy, I'm assuming he is still family right? Takeru probably being from a branch family while Kaoru being from the main family. heck I'm not even surprised if they're actually engaged to each other (seeing how its alright for japanese to actually marry cousins and stuff) or something.

You are really not familiar with Bushido are you? Being a decoy, he is supposed to lay his life on the line for his Lord, so it would be shameful of him to fight over the position of Head of the Shiba Clan being a samurai who's sole purpose is to serve his/her Lord until death. Decoys are part of the Japanese History, and has been recorder to have been utilized all the way from the Heian Period (probably even earlier) and up to WWII. They know that they are supposed to catch a bullet for their real counterparts and die in their place, that's why figureheads use decoys because of the existence of assassins and a lot of enemies during the feudal era. That's why Takeru been acting weird before, not liking to be served by his vassals in the early episodes, since he knows he's a decoy and he knows that they are all of equal stature who serves under the secret real Head of the Shiba Clan.

Takeru being a play by the rules type of character would NOT do something so stupid.

The real lord will show up and he has to respectfully step aside.

If he all of a sudden starts throwing a fit like a baby

"No! I've been "lord" longer than you!"

Then that would seriously destroy his character. You can how that would make him look selfish.

So no, the two reds will not duel for dominance no matter how "kewl" it would be.

That said, I do think Takeru will be "field commanding" the Shinkengers again by the end of the series. The show isn't going to invest 40+ episodes in the character and then toss him aside.
