^ Still, anything is better than Doug Sloan's work. Bruce's stuff may not have been the best but I thought and I'm glad it was much better than Sloan's.
Skyknight said:There was no "hint of greatness" with the TF coustume, it was a shitty prop reuse, just like all the other unnecersary and boring fanwank references that did nothing but disguise the biggest faults of SPD: No consistency.
DT's world was far more well crafted and contained than "LSD's'" ever was, it did'nt even remember how broad in format or scope it truly was, and could truly aspire to be. DT even knew when to build up a finale, not three episodes prior to it.

Keith "JC" Hayward said:There was not world crafted in DT. It was just a high school with monsters that sometimes ran around and some students who liked to bumble about pretending they were reporters..... and random portals that just happen to be pretty much anywhere.
World of "SPD" was the future
up to a finale is story and pacing, not world building.

NOT GUILTY!
The Good // O //
I loved how Bruce and Greg tried to give a bigger feel to the SPD ranger world. Complete with cadets, squads, a huge facility, lots of creative looking aliens. I appreciated the idea that we had extra characters like Boom or Piggy. They werent needed, no. And if they were never written in it's not like SPD would have changed much at all. But it was still nice having them around.
The world was richer than previous seasons and the cast was great. I loved the improved storylines. SPD's Anubis beats the hell out of Deka's Doggie. Anubis's backstory was deep and memorable. Very vivid and dark.
I also loved the action and the great directing by Greg. I loved how hard everyone worked on the season to make it great. I really wish Greg would have stayed on for Mystic Force. I really enjoyed his creative work on SPD.
The Bad // X //
SPD lost it's way after half way into the series. There was a definite lack of focus episodes. SPD had characters so rich in potential. Each character had the potential for some good back story, good focus, and good development. We didn't get really any development or backstory for any of the characters. We got a little but for the most part it felt like the good portion of the middle of the series ment nothing.
SPD really suffered because of the fact that we never got to learn more about our favorite ranger characters or other supporting characters. We never got to see them in creative situations that developed their personality more. Sky was the only ranger who truly had development and focus. He got a lot of great focus episodes but I wish the other rangers got just as much.
On the other hand some episodes which had great potential were just badly written. Like perspective or robotpalooza. It was also bad how they brought up plot points throughout the season but didn't follow up on them until the very end. While that wasn't my biggest gripe, I can certainly see the disadvantages of waiting until the last minute to wrap everything up.
The finale felt rushed because it had so much to do and settle. Some of these plots could have been settled earlier to prevent a rushed finale. Another big problem was Aisina. She's thought to be dead the entire season but shows up mysteriously at the finale episode. Where has she been? Why did Cruger keep her alive? What has he been doing with her all this time? It doesnt make any sense.
//::::The Cast:::://
//::Jack Landors::////::Brandon Jay McLaren:://
1 SPD Red!
Love his character. A great leader and very fun to watch. I loved how he was a kind person and wanted to help the poor. His cocky personality and how competitive he was with Sky. He always liked to prove himself it seemed. I also enjoyed how Jack had a arrogant ass side. Where he would make Syd work on her birthday just to spite her or boss everyone around when he first became a leader.
But at the same time he also stood up for himself and his rangers when they needed him. I love how he stood up to Doggie at the very end.
//::Sky Tate::////::Chris Violette:://
2 SPD Blue!
Sky got all the best focus episodes so naturally he's a great character. Well developed and very likeable. I loved his tough attitude towards everyone in the beginning. How he was rude and basically a jerk. Dreaming and just almost demanding that he be red ranger because his father was one. I loved the emotion he showed with his friend Dru. How he was protective of Dru but at then feeling terrible about how he had to bring Dru in.
When Sky had to face Murlock, the monster that killed Sky's father, that was a powerful moment. I just loved the little nuances of Sky. How he was upset for not being red ranger, then upset that he didnt get a new bike, or upset that Jack got a battlizer but no one else.
It was great to see Sky learn and change by the end of the season and become a red ranger, finally earning it.
//::Bridge Carson::////::Matt Austin:://
3 SPD Green!
Hilarious. Bridge will be remembered for the "buttery" line. He lacked any good focus but he was a great and interesting character. Filled with funny lined, crazy antics, and memorable performances. There's nothing much to say about him other than he was hysterical.
//::Z Delgado::////::Monica May:://
4 SPD Yellow!
Z was great. I liked her relation to Jack. How she thought of him as a brother and how they watched each other's backs. Her back story was great, seeing the prejudice of some other kids. Pointing out her differences. Her necklace was kewl and I enjoyed when it was used creatively in the show. There's not much to say about her, sadly. She had some nice lines and did a great job.
//::Syd Drew::////::Alycia Purrott:://
5 SPD Pink!
She really needed more focus episodes as well. Sad that she only had two episodes that focused on her. She was a interesting character, I liked her personality and how she grew from spoiled brat to a caring character. I just wish we could have seen more of her and learned more about her and where she comes from.
//::Anubis "Doggie" Cruger::////::John Tui:://
100 SPD Shadow Ranger!
Easily one of the best characters of the show. John Tui did the best voice acting job ever. I'm convinced no one else would have been able to do a better job for Anubis. His back story was very emotional and dark. The battle scenes of Sirius, Doggies battle with Benaag and Ichthior. His ultimate finale battle with Gruum. It was great. All of it. His voice was powerful and emotional. You really started to care about this suit creature. The voice combined with the animatronics of the head really brought this character to life.
//::Kat Manx::////::Michelle Langstone:://
Meow SPD Kat Ranger!
Our firsty Kitty Girl character who also becomes a ranger for one episode. It was remarkable. She was so cute and expressionate. She had so many expressions and wonderful green eyes. Her hair was beautiful and I loved her personality and her delivery of the lines. Sometimes she felt robotic but there were a lot of times when she was very expressive and emotional. She also lacked real focus episodes except for Katastrophe which didnt show us anything about her.
Basically, there's not much I can say. Michelle did a great job.
//::Boom::////::Kelson Henderson:://
Emergency SPD Orange!
Boom was hilarious. He wasn't around much but I loved it when he was. I wish he was used more. The episode dedicated to him was very special. I loved seeing him as a ranger and loved seeing his parents. Boom's depressed look as he revealed the truth to his parents and how he wanted to resign from SPD. Very sad. Im glad he stayed in the end. Boom always made me laugh. The "pathetic, tortured, hopeless lab assistant" was great. Kelson did a fantastic job.
//::Emperor Gruumm::////::Rene Naufahu:://
I will crush puny, so called warriors in the name... of the Magnificence!
I liked his design. Gruumm looked his best when he was on his ship, under the eerie green and yellow lights. It really brought out the texture of the suit and made it look especially evil. Gruumm didnt look so great in normal lighting though. In fact, the suit looked pretty crappy when he would go out onto the surface of Earth. I loved how he got a bike. Wicked kewl. His voice was very dark and sinister and I loved it. Seeing Rene playing Gruumm in Shadow was a real treat.
Though hating Cruger and taking his wife over the loss of a horn is a bit questionable.
//::Mora::////::Olivia James-Baird:://
You're not drinking your tea Broodwing...
She's adorable. Her scenes always made me laugh. I was sad when she was turned into Morgana for a while but glad when she came back. She had some of the funniest performances of the series. It really gave Gruumm a nice image. Seeing a villain raising a child. I just wish more was done with her. I would have liked to have seen how she met Gruumm and why she adored being a child more than an adult.
//::Morgana::////::Josephine Davison:://
Let me introduce myself, Ranger. I am Morgana. Wanna play?
I'm really sad she was hardly used in battle. Morgana only fought once or twice and wasn't creatively used beyond that. So it really was a waste but I really did enjoy her performance and she had a great voice. Just wish there was more of her.
//::Piggy::////::Barnie Duncan:://
Why do you insist on coming here and chasing away my clientele!? They haven't done anything... well, not today anyway.
Piggy was awesome! I wish we got to see more of him. He had some funny moments and I loved how piggy started as a dumpster hog then became rich via lottery ticket. Then started his own little business. That was great and it was interesting how he played a role in the grand scheme of things. Playing on all sides of the fence. Giving rangers answers, Gruumm answers, and Broodwing too. I liked seeing Piggy grow a conscience at the very end and helped free the rangers. Seeing him go into business with Jack and Ally was wonderful and a fitting end for Piggy. Looks like he had enough playing the evil game.

In the end SPD was a great season. Not perfect but I enjoyed myself and I loved the cast. They were great on screen and off screen. A real pleasure. I miss them already. I remember back when we were getting our first promos of SPD. I remember everyone talking about the Dekaranger logo being used in the promo. All our initial comments. Aaah, those were the days. I cant believe another year is gone and SPD is already over. It felt like yesterday I was watching the firt two episodes of the season and just wondering where the series would take us by the very end. Reading the episode descriptions and eagerly awaiting new episodes.
It was a great ride.
