Power Rangers 2011 Cast Scripts - $2-3 each

So I guess it's just a coincidence that the seasons that were direct Sentai translations began the trend of low ratings and toy sales for both the Saban and Disney eras?

I don't want or need your help, but thanks for offering!

Then don't post your opinions as facts. Low ratings eh? Yeah cause they were so low when they started getting low PR got canceled HEY WAIT. And please. Even IF you were right about the ratings issue, toy sales HAVE NOTHING to do with how they make the PR from the sentai. I mean I can't even believe you tried to think anyone would buy that. PR toys sell primarily to the younger kids. Most of them have no idea what sentai is or that it even has anything to do with PR.

I am also sick of this "direct sentai translation" garbage. A direct translation of the sentai would be the exact same story, situations, character interactions. etc etc. In other words EVERYTHING would be EXACTLY the same as the sentai. And guess what... NO PR season was EXACTLY like the sentai.

Bingo.

If little kids saw Sentai today, they would assume it's a fake Power Rangers and nothing more. Sentai has no effect towards casual viewers.

Funny thing is no matter how much he tries to trash sentai. All he doing is trashing power rangers as well, because no matter what he thinks. Without the other. Thier be no power rangers!

Err...the ratings have been dropping to a low average ever since the later days of MMPR (when the fad "ended"). If you want to be specific they dropped really sharply with Turbo (which didn't, for the most part, act as "direct Sentai translation"), raised with In Space, raised a bit more with Lost Galaxy (which is both "original" in design and "translation" in some episode plots) before dropping again due to a change of network focus to Digimon. The series then stayed on varying levels, increased with Ninja Storm and onwards for a while (influx of a new audience) and then slowly receded as a lack of advertisment, dwindling series budget and the lack of a potential audience (the channel being mostly a "specialty" type) took their tolls. "Direct translation" (which is a misnomer, KingRanger being right in that there has never been an exact translation between the two series, even if they often share similar plots, character types, or premises) does not immediately equal bad ratings nor do they effect how the target audience regards the show.

Here's a sweet explanation in terms of PR popularity and ratings (ignoring the actual value of the seasons to the fans):

MMPR S1-S2: Strong and ridiculously high ratings. I dub this as RI1 (Ratings Increase 1)

MMPR S3 - Turbo 1: Major decline in popularity and ratings. RD1.

Turbo 2 - Lost Galaxy: Resurgence in the ratings. Became the highest kids program on FOX before the Digimon craze. RI2.

Lightspeed - Wild Force: Began to slip in a decline over these years as toy sales also suffered. RD2.

Ninja Storm - SPD: Like it or not, these were more successful in terms of ratings than the last of Saban's years or Disney's first. PR slowly gained back some popularity. RI3

Mystic Force - RPM: Nearing the edge of a dead zone. Rating were close to abysmal, leading to the show's now "temporary" cancelation. RD3/the Dark Age of PR.

I guess you aren't aware that Haim had planned on ending PR after adapting Gaoranger because ratings and toy sales had been in the toilet since Lightspeed. Or that Disney actually did end the show because ratings and toy sales had begun to decline once again, starting with Mystic Force.

This post doesn't make sense. I wasn't even trashing Sentai.

That's what I've heard about it anyways.

Supposedly Lost Galaxy premired to great acclaim and had stellar ratings for the first number of episodes. Then the ratings took an unexpected dip and that, combined with all the other production difficulties, caused Saban and Fox to eventually put the show on a hiatus of a number of months, just prior to the last run of episodes. At the same time, Digimon had just premiered and was gathering a large following. The channel then focused it's attention and advertisement on Digimon during this time and gives it Lost Galaxy's time slot. Once Lost Galaxy finally returned to the airwaves, the audiences had moved on, the majority going to Digimon (the big anime craze of the late 90's had begun), the series ratings never really attained such high levels again, and the rest is history.

I'm sure someone with better knowledge or access to resources then me could actually confirm whether or not this really happened.
