Pirates of the Caribbean 4 in 2011

If this had just ended after the first movie, it could've been a true classic. Now, it's just another franchise that post-Walt-era Disney is getting ready to run into the ground :redface2:

I can guess Jack is being chased by over 9000 angry pirates fans who poured their money to see a sh*t movie.

What did that had to do with the 4th movie, well, with a shity movie liek POTC3 where everyone betrays eachother it's no wonder jack is being chased.

Yeah....I'm a really big POTC fan...Jack Sparrow is a God...but looking back over the three movies....I kinda wish they had just made the one and left it at that.

Though then I never would have gotten scruffy Pirate Norrington. *drools a little*

Yeah I remember when I saw the first one, I thought it was awesome and talked it up to everybody, and now I get made fun of because the other two were so incredibly bad.

Seems like pirates is a genre that would be really hard to **** up too, way to go Gore Verbinski.

When the first one came out, I went and saw it six times in the theatre. I talked about it non-stop.

Now the love has waned, and I just...really really wish it had maybe been a bomb at the box office, so that I could still enjoy it and hype it up to people. You know...like a secret little gem.

Talk about milking the franchise. This is just another "Saw", IMO

I don't agree with that... Saw is a franchise, no doubt, but it's not the cash cow Pirates is and the quality is actually pretty consistantly good on the Saw films. The first one was extremely fresh, the second one was pretty bad but still better than most new-gen horror trash, the third one made up a lot for the second one and the fourth was again really fun and well-done.

Yeah, the first one was really good. Maybe a liiiiiiittle cliche in parts, but just really fun and you can tell a lot of love went into making it. Plus, the Jack Sparrow costume will never be topped as best pirate attire of all time. But then they injected a bunch of crazy supernatural (even for ghost pirate movies) **** into the second and third (which was almost unwatchable) and all the fun became routine, and all the cool characters became rehashed hollow versions of their original incarnations.

Actually I disagree there. I think that out of all of the characters, Commodore James Norrington really grew over the three films.
Dicussion hidden for spoilers over the three movies:

[hide]

James starts out as a prestigious Commodore, clearly one of the best of the best. He gets the dirty end of the stick from the get go, being shot down by the woman who holds his heart, used by her to get to Will (and that was really low...saying she would marry him just to get to Will), he's shown up by Jack left right and center (and because EVERYONE loves Jack, this makes Norrington look incompetant, like the bad guy, and pompous). In the second movie we learn he's lost his ship AND his entire crew. A crew of his most trusted men, his friends, like Gillette and Groves. He lost everything trying to apprehend Jack and bring him in to justice...it's his job. Charming or not, Jack is still a pirate, and Norrington still has to uphold the law.
So by now he's broken and hollowed out, and he's lost his title and everything he's worked so hard to gain in life. He turns to revenge. By becoming a pirate himself. And yet he's still doing all of this to regain his original position in the King's Navy. Eventually (I think it's in the third movie) he gets promoted to Admiral, and makes up for all the bad things he's done, makes ammends with Elizabeth, saves her life, and FUCKING DIES.

****. THAT. ****. I was SO angry that he died. SERIOUSLY. Take the one character I love as much as Jack and just....put him through the wringer and kill him in an anticlimatic fucking fashion. He didn't even get a proper, honest fight. Though I'm sure Jones would use the excuse of 'pirate'.

That may be, but do we really need to see like 6 different Saw movies? I mean, it's like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The first one was great! I fuckin loved it! But the second and third just sucked balls.
