Not much love for Drive?

So because Kuuga and Agito were more than a decade ago we are not allowed to have a police force that actually acts like a police force?

If the police force acts like an actual police force, then we don't need a Kamen Rider. That's the point.

So because Kuuga and Agito were more than a decade ago we are not allowed to have a police force that actually acts like a police force? Once again, I do not get that logic. You can still write a story that children are interested in and not have every character be a dumb idiot.

It's good that not everybody is a dumb idiot, then. They're just dismissive elitists, exaggerated.

I don't understand why should SCU get looked down because elitism?
Their case is something that once threaten world and Tomari make a point that there is so many terrified by them.

It is normal if they put low probability that Roidmude involved. But when all of them just laugh at Otta and even call SCU as freak Squad, it's like they didn't believe SCU at all. I understand it is because SCU is unofficial "special team" but even SCU heaviness app become so popular to people that Kyu can use to locate every slowdown accident.
Maybe it is just way to make a joke but it is weird to make everyone on earth but police put their believe on SCU.
SCU are look so elite but at same time they are not.

Of course, they don't believe in the SCU. They're like if a police force nowadays had a ghost hunter unit. Or a UFO abductions unit. Say, the premise of Men In Black.

I've found Drive more...watchable-weekly?... after Chase's reveal and Mach becoming a part of the show than I did the first 10 or so episodes. So far I've just been watching four at a time every month instead of weekly.
In other news, I just got a Fang/Joker Jacket and it made me want to watch Kamen Rider W all over again. I miss my Windscale stuff...

I think someone can point to Kuuga as proof otherwise.

I haven't seen Kuuga.

Realistically, there is no such thing as a power the police or the government cannot appropriate for themselves if they want to, just so that they can perform their duty. The idea of an police force so ill-equipped and ill-prepared that an individual without clout can offset that lack is already a huge stretch as it is.

But realism is not why I watch Kamen Rider.

Kuuga, Agito, Kabuto, W, Wizard.
Three former show even make special department for their monster. And they get respect.
At first they deny Kuuga but later respect him, because he help them until finally they can make it their own way to fight Grongi.
I believe you atleast watch W. They still have some respect to Terui because just he, their only personnel who can get trough with Dhopant Case.
In Wizard, Section 0 get many respect and even feared by other department.

If those ghost or UFO rampage city, then those incident is not secret at all and citizen still have fear to those, and just this few people who succesfully can handle some of that case whose police can never handle. All of citizen help and believe on them but police not. I call it weird too.
I know SCU look so stupid and those police make valid reason why they belittle them. I will take "elitism" reason if police is actually provide some help to victim and SCU mostly just disturb their investigation. But it is weird when this show make them looks reliable and supported by many other background-only people. But why not supported by police when this show premise is about a Police Kamen Rider.

Again, if they really had any respect, the Kamen Rider wouldn't be needed in the first place. A Kamen Rider isn't a figure of authority, isn't a representative of the government.

The simple fact that the Kamen Rider exists and takes the spotlight, makes the government a joke. Makes the cops incompetent, the military incompetent. It happened in every series I've seen, from this one to Kabuto, especially for technology-based Riders.

We just ignore it because it doesn't really matter. But we suspend disbelief because superhero. Now, we have a Kamen Rider that's actually part of the government. He is that one that is actually competent to deal with the threat. The rest are just like the usual.

I haven't seen Kuuga.

Well that's the problem, isn't it? How can you have this discussion if you don't know what the rest of us are talking about?

Commissioner Gordon is still competent despite the presence of Batman. As far as I know, the Metropolis police can still do their job and are intelligent despite Superman flying around.

And, Agito gave us Hikawa Makoto:

I give you 5 example about police still have respect to someone who can help them and they still need the Kamen Rider because they are incompetent when to have defeat the monster. Kabuto Rider get their power from government and unknowingly get manipulated by them.
See, ZECT is respected by police because they know about ZECT are only one who they can relied on.
In Drive, it is like Police never experience Slowdown or get complaint about Slowdown issues or maybe not in earth when Global Freeze happened.
It is just like in another rider show where police existence is ignored or didn't know about monster.

We are talking about monsters here. Even a well equipped police force is still a police force fighting monsters. There is no realism there at all.
