We're talking about shows starring a "super" detective or law enforcement person who works alongside the "normal" police who are often left baffled by events when the hero isn't. How is it an unrealistic expectation to not have said police be seen as complete buffoons whom you'd wonder about how they ever got their jobs?
The cops in Kuuga and Agito rarely won against the monsters, but they made their best effort. You could respect them. The cops in W, Wizard and Drive are horrendous.
