Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog

Ziginz Zegell

No Fear, No Pain.
In the late 90's Saban produced a completely original Tokusatsu experience for you fewers based loosely on Irish mythology. Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog not only did it, but did it well. Lasting for fifty episodes the series had knights, witches, dragons, and even fairy folk. While it may not have been the best show ever, and its second season was canceld to fund Lost Galaxy, the show made a lasting impression with me and was one of my first "Sword and Sorcery" fantasy experiences. With the recent announcment that "Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad" will be released on DVD, I certainly hope this lovely peice of U.S. made toku will be released to DVD so that i can relive a child hood favorite. I also hope this series lives on in memory as solid proof that U.S. toku can not only work, but work well.

Well I was supposed to list this as a discussion thread but forgot to add the tag. Oh well, I expressed my thoughts and might still start conversations.

Oh man, now I will never be able to forget about this show. I spent the last 15 years without remembering it, and now that I dug up some footage just for my Sentai panel this past weekend, I will never be able to forget about this crap again.

This belongs more in the power chamber

Thanks Scikaiju, wasn't sure where I should put it, and now I know. Lets see if I remember

Personally while I remember it fondly I am not sure how my adult mind would register it now. Part of me wants to know...part of me is scared to.

No problem

As for the show itself, it was alright. For Saban's first, and so far only, attempt for an original PR like show it was an interesting concept to set the show in mid-eval (see I did learn lol) times. Finally say the final episode last year and it did look like they were setting things up for a second season.

What I liked about the series was not only was it filmed in Ireland but all the actors bar one were Irish actors which was great because I really don't like it when American actors try to do an Irish accent because it never sounds right to me because I grew up in N.Ireland. It was a great series though I don't remember much of the second season so it would be nice if it came out on dvd as the quality on youtube isn't the greatest.

How come this one isn't on Netflix or headed to DVD like nearly all the rest of the Saban toku library?

Is there some legal issue I'm unaware of?

CKShadowmoon: Sorry, the second season never happened. They cut the funding for Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.

ArkVoodle: Maybe it is on the list. I hope so at least.
