[Cartoon] My Little Pony Talkback Thread

Only started to watch a few days ago, it really is a smile factory :D

In a way it reminds me a bit of Ruby Gloom. Just no Misery.

So Dami who do you pair Rainbow Dash with? :laugh:

Rainbow Dash doesn't like being confined to a single choice, sir. She is a free spirit pony.
Recent Popularity Boom = Keith and Vangelus

I wouldn't exactly call that a Popularity BOOM :laugh::loltongue:
No, it's actually getting a lot of exposure. Keith and Van are sort of riding the tail end of this. :D *chan's been all up in this since it started.

The results have been.... um... um. There have been results.

You got your kiddie merchandise in my high-concept superhero drama!

You got your drama bullshit in my action show for kids!

Could these two great tastes taste great together?

Um.... sometimes! :)
The morals in Friendship is Magic are so much thoughtful and less... horrible than the morals in what passed for girls' cartoons when I was growing up. I mean, the "blank flank" episode is happening, right now, in every sixth grade classroom in the country.

That episode spooked me. In a good way, but nevertheless. I mean, outside of its obvious real-world connotations (which brought a smile from me due to the show's deft handling of them), looking at it in the context of the fiction it establishes... well.

Okay, so. Cutie marks are a thing that appear on your hind quarters when you find your true purpose in life. And the show says that if you don't have one, it means you still have unlimited potential. If you think about that a little too hard, that **** is scary. Who in their right mind would want a cutie mark, then? Once you've got one, you're bound to that overarching role for life! At the end of the episode, those princess ponies who were teasing Apple Bloom about her not having her cutie mark yet actually end up feeling sad about getting theirs!

...or can cutie marks be changed? Or erased? Have there ever been ponies who don't want to be typecast by what their cutie mark says about them? Have there every been any that just never got one? And how does pony society treat them? Is there truly no fate but what we make?

aaaaaaaaaaaah

I think the thing is that once you've found your true calling in life, you don't especially want to be anything else, because pursuing your true calling is wonderful in itself. But the journey to find that calling is also wonderful and full of learning and good times.

(And of course, some true callings are more beneficial to society than others... given that those other two girl ponies' callings were apparently "be a bitch to everyone, constantly." But they're clearly enjoying themselves, so who's going to stop them?)

MY GOD I'VE CREATED A MONSTER! WHAT HAVE I DONE!!!

:laugh::P

Guy's come on. Please try not to close this thread before next weeks episode. Huh? :anime:

Or how about the blue unicorn who's special talent was popping things, I am curious how pony society functions when that is considered more or less a profession.

Also why didn't Cheerilee do anything about Apple Bloom being bullied right in the middle of class? I mean bullying is a big issue these days and it was just surprising it wasn't touched on. I bring this up because I literally just finished watching the episode of the Hub website.

I figure these people become the pony society equivalent of fry cooks. Your purpose in life is not necessarily meaningful.

Man, my teachers always treated bullying the exact same way.

Pinkie Pie works in a bakery but her purpose doesn't really involve baked goods, unless you count birthday cake and party food... so I figure that your 'true purpose' doesn't always equate your job in society and you're pretty free to pick any job you qualify for.
