Kamen Rider W - Thoughts & Opinions

I generally find it one of the more frustrating series to talk about. I feel like I need to give Double a rewatch before I come up with a more definite opinion (Guess that's next after Kuuga!) I get why people like it though.

The movie however, is basically excellent, I don't need to rethink that one. I'd say it's in the top 10 of Rider movies ever, and definitely top 3 of the Heisei movies.

W is prolly one of the top 5 Heisei Rider series on a number of people's list of favorite Heisei Rider series.

It essentially had a steadily flowing storyline that made sure not to leave anything unanswered while combining it with the "light-hearted comedy" that Den-O provided.........which basically was the primary trigger to W's popularity amongst the fandom and new Rider fans alike.

With that being said, it was pretty good but not good enough to top the top 2 Heisei Rider series of Kuuga and Agito.

Finally! I thought I was the only one having trouble accepting Double myself...

Personally though, I think it's overrated.

The movie was pretty damn epic. I was surprised by how dark it was. (Not dark like Kuuga, G4 or Episode Final, but dark by today's standards)

Yeah, Double not really connecting things kind of soured things for me. I still like the series, but yeah, it was a letdown. I mean, Kobayashi could technically still pick it up, and use it to connect it if she wished. I remember the day the Foundation X lady showed the Core Medals, every single person on this board was practically zooming in and trying to translate its horrendous engrish, looking for clues about OOO.

I can't believe you don't like OOO Aoi! I'm finding it enjoyable, even more so than Double.

I have no issues giving Double my #1 spot for Favorite Rider Series.
Their characters and plot win me over in every episode. I don't think there was one episode I had a hard time watching.
Double himself had what was to me, an excellent design. It was plain and simple, yet very stylish and cool. His form changes were also very solid and smooth.

Also, I might be highly biased to Double over any other series

I enjoyed watching double. It was so much better than Decade.
Shoutarou-san was like the Sherlock Holmes & Dick Tracy of Kamen Riders.

Better than expected. Played its Rider origins up, which is always a good thing. The dark stuff is more of subtle than horrifying.

What made Double for me was the incredibly human way the characters were portrayed. Very few characters were truly evil, and the ones that were were treated like real psychos by even the villains. Every individual arc gave us a dopant with realistic problems and a reason for what they did. Even the heroes had their lessons to learn: Shotaro to step out of his boss' shadow and to become his own man, Phillip to learn what it means to be human, and Ryu had to learn the old favorite: When hunting monsters, make sure you don't become one yourself. All in all, great stories, great aesops, great show.

I really have no qualms against saying that W is my second favorite series. I loved a lot of things about it. Mainly Philip and the two-in-one Rider concept. Plus, it brought back bike action in nearly every arc.

The only negative that majorly sticks out in my mind is how restricted the show was to two episode arcs and I feel that some plotlines could have been extended and structured better if it wasn't in those two episode arcs, but that's really all. Not watching W is definitely a mistake.

Though for all its faults, I still say it's a very fun series to watch after a certain point and has kept me more interested than OOO, which I sadly dropped.

I really wish you would un-drop it Aoi.

LOL, if guys like Iga had trouble really liking the series, then it makes sense for Aoi to do so.
