Kamen Rider W (Double) - Talk Up!

Oh wow, now American Idol has been turned in KR W as Fuuto Idol. Gracious. If ever that did have it's own show, I'd be watching it online with non-stop playbacks.

Well, the Idol franchise is international and has been for quite some time. The original version of the franchise was a British show called Pop Idol; eventually Cowell franchised it to 42 countries (and counting). So it's really not surprising that W is parodying the trend.

It's especially not surprising to see this sort of parody in a Japanese show. Japan was gleefully manufacturing idol singers long before a lot of other countries were willing to admit to it how processed their pop stars really were.

There's a particularly memorable Kamen Rider Black episode that is completely a parody of how completely Japanese people let themselves get obsessed with new idol singers. MOG-ROG, MOG-ROG....
