I didn't see Blade asking the audience to count up how many cards Kenzaki and Co. had so far. I'm not saying this one thing makes the whole show terrible. Just that it and the forced attempts at humor are things I can do without and in any case aren't really needed.

(Well, it would have helped. I forgot what cards the Blade guys had from time to time. Maybe they wouldn't have shafted so many of the cards if they remembered they existed)

ZECTroopers actually killed Worms? When? All I saw were people complaining about how useless they were.

I know there were some times where they shot at the pre-molted Worms in the beginning and they blew up. It was rare. Very rare and they were still useless otherwise, but it happened

EDIT: Oh I just remembered one. When TheBee was debuting. They surrounded the Worm and shot at it and it blew up. I remember that one.

I don't get what you mean. The preview of Ep 11 shows clearly the Yummy is an insect type, which is created by Uva. I don't know where the hell you got Kazari from.

Like you said, it was rare. Most of the rest of the time the Troopers were dropping like flies, pardon the pun. I don't see what the problem would be to have the RideVendors spit out standard Kougami weapons like what Goto uses. That pistol he wields clearly isn't ordinary itself. I'm half-surprised Bandai didn't try to make toys out of them.

The problem is that they don't work on monsters. In Kabuto the platoons were useless but the weapons were built to at least have the ability to kill a Worm. Here, nothing conventional can work. It can stun them for a second, but it's not going to kill anything. Why make weapons that just won't do anything. Not even dropping a building on them can do anything. Only Riders and the Medal System can beat them so there's no point in making more.

I don't see how the pistol is unordinary. It hasn't done anything different than the other conventional weapons have done to the Yummys so far, that being, make them react for a second and then they unflinchingly keep going.

Well actually in the first few episodes Gamel proved he can be hurt by gun shots. But it would take too long to kill every cell medal he has that there's no point in it. Maybe if you had a machine gun with like 4324324 you might do something.

Right. That's why I meant stun them for a second. After the "sting" moment, he smacked them down. Then they realized "oh wait, we need Cores."

So just make the weapons more effective. The only reason they're not truthfully is because that's how it was written to be. If it was written to be that Kougami soldiers can more or less hold their own against Yummies with their weaponry, what would be the problem? It's not as though the plot is hedging on Kougami soldiers being ineffective. You'd still have the setup of OOO being this rouge that Kougami (the man) is aiding for dubious reasons and Goto having his suspicions.

You know why the common soldiers in Kabuto, Kiva and OOO are generally made to look useless? Because apparently Toei is of the mind that this make the hero look all the more powerful. And while I can see the logic to that, I still think making the soldiers actually useful wouldn't take away from the hero's star status. At least with Kuuga and Agito the ineffectiveness was necessary to the plot and even then they gradually became more of a competent ally and less of cannon fodder.

I don't see how the pistol is unordinary.

That's a pretty good reason, isn't it? The show's not interested in depicting conventional weapons in use against Greeds and Yummys. There's no particular reason why it should. It wants to show you the new toys beating up the other new toys, so the few real weapons we see in use against them won't work.

I mean... you know, realistically speaking, the JSDF or UN should've long since rolled in with tanks and ludicrous high-power weaponry by now. The Security Council should be taking a vote on whether or not it's acceptable to nuke Japan in order to end the Greed menace. That won't happen because OOO just isn't that sort of show.

Setting tone and sticking to it is a part of storytelling and stories just aren't obligated to use a realistic tone. OOO is whimsical and doesn't want to be taken too seriously and that's not going to change anytime soon. If this was a quasi-realistic show like Kuuga or Nexus, then you'd see the Kougami troopers winning more fights... but they'd also probably have main character status.
