Kamen Rider OOO - Talk Up!

I really like how Eiji is Eiji because of his traumatic experiences in the past. That he isn't just some noob walking around because he is a goddamn hobo. Something made him this way, and Kobayashi is obviously striving toward that goal. He's not a noob, like pre-Begin's Night Shotaro, Ryotaro, Wataru and Shinji. Or a totally douche hobo like Takumi.

Kinda reminds me of Shouichi, or Godai or Kotaro.

(Is it just me, or is Kobayashi seeing how Sanjo and Hasegawa worked Double, and thinking "Wow. Maybe I should try some of their ideas in my writing!" The Eiji flashback totally reminded me of the Phillip flashback in early episodes of Double)

If anyone else watches Digimon Xros Wars, anyone finding Eiji's personality unbelievably similar to Taiki's? I'm expecting Eiji to say "I can't leave them alone" at any minute now.

We don't know when the picture was taken. And he said he goes out of Japan sometimes. I don't think he ever mentioned specific places.

well Eiji didn't look much older in the picture then he is now, can only assume the picture was taken within 2-3 years

It's either this, or Toei is actively asking her to emulate specific aspects of W's writing that charted well with viewers. Japanese production companies can exert incredibly specific influence over how a series comes out. Things that in an American show you would attribute to the creator can really just be the result of corporate mandates in a Japanese show.

Now I don't know how Kobayashi was influenced (if she was influenced) either way, but my gut makes me think the W-isms are coming down from corporate. The episode 2 flashback, at least, felt a little bit unnatural to me, like we were suddenly seeing something written by someone else or from another show entirely. I don't know if there have been more flashbacks in episode 3.

Also bear in mind that W and OOO have the same head director and he may be choosing to shoot certain types of things in the same way.

'I can't turn my back on them!' would be a nice catchphrase for Eiji.
