If you ask me Date and Gotou have a very different sort of relationship, if you know what I mean and I think you do.

So something I have suspected for awhile was just confirmed by this episode.
The Yummy are...very very weak. Or at the very least, this Owl is.
Well, OK. That's not fair. They're weak compared to past villains and monsters.
Like, your average Destron monster, or Shocker cyborg.
You know what happened to Shiro if he tried to fight a Destron monster without transforming?
He'd get the **** beat out of him and look like crap.
Same with other older Riders.
The sole exception being Kotaro....because even while human, he was more super human then the rest. Sure, most of the old school Riders has some level of super strength
But Kotaro could TAKE TRIPS THROUGH WALLS and be perfectly fine. Dude was hella tough.

Eiji is a scrawny normal guy who's only real trait is that he's too stupid to quit.
And Brotou is....a very scrawny normal guy.
The Owl Yummy, if it was half the monster the older ones were, should have flattened them both with ease, not let itself be distracted and annoyed by them.

All I can see is boyfriends, and I'm not even usually someone who reads too deeply into depictions of close male friendships. But what else do you call two dudes who spend literally all their time together and often exchange fond, loving looks?

I don't really see anything like that between Date and Gotou, mainly because I don't really pay attention to Gotou unless I have to.
Would have liked to have seen Date follow through with that adorable lady from....ep. 23-24, was it? Alas, it could not be~

I don't think Date and Gotou have the normal Funny/Straight Men relationship. Mostly because the Straight Man is normally the one that calls the shots in the pair, while the Funny Man has all the luck.
