Kamen Rider Drive - News/Rumours Thread 1

This is obviously a rip off of Skull. The colors are mostly white and black, it's the first "Rider" in this series, but dies before the present day events, and also is only clearly shown in action in the movies.

Anyway, although this is clearly derivative, at least it means they'll be using the movies for something relevant to the show, not just random filler.
In terms of story, yes definitely agree its more like skull, but the design makes it feel like its paying tribute to joker since iirc, its the same director, as well as the color scheme for the most part looks like joker, or maybe its just me. Stripped down version of the rider (eg no tire change for drive, no split forms for W) main black design with purple bracelet/anklet, and both being detectives.

It's the same director? I don't think Sakamoto is involved with this... Proto-Drive's color scheme is mostly black with some white, only the purple bracelets break the pattern. Joker had a consistent purple theme though, not only bracelets, but also chest lines, leg rings, shoulder lines, etc. Skull was much more consistently black and white, like Proto-Drive. Skull also had the same "base suit with simplified gimmick" pattern going too.

Sakamoto didn't direct Movie War 2010 or the early episodes of W, Tasaki did. So sinzz is right.

Sakamoto directed W Forever, which is where Joker debuted. He's comparing Proto-Drive to Joker, I'm the one comparing Proto-Drive to Skull.

Anyway, I just saw this posted on 4chan, a very spoiler heavy summary of the movie's three parts.

Kamen Rider Gaim
Having saved humanity from annihilation, Kouta tried to create a new world with Mai. However, an abnormal change occurred within the stars. Megahex, a mechanical lifeform, mysteriously appeared and began to fuse with the stars. With Megahex’s next target being Earth, Kouta chased after it but was defeated by its overwhelming strength. Now Mitsuzane is the only one left with a Sengoku Driver. Will the two brothers, Mitsuzane and Takatora, be able to save humanity?

Kamen Rider Drive
The legendary phantom thief Lupin has appeared! Having obtained the body of CyberRoid ZZZ, Lupin can now freely manipulate Slowdown. His objective: steal the heroic title of “Kamen Rider”! While chasing after Lupin, Shinnosuke arrives at an old castle. The castle holds a secret about “Kamen Rider” that no one knows about! What is this secret? And now, Lupin has surprisingly gained the ability to transform…!

Movie War Full Throttle
By fusing together with the body of CyberRoid ZZZ, Megahex has become the ultimate mechanical lifeform: ZZZ Megahex! During the Earth’s greatest crisis, Drive, Gaim, and other Kamen Riders have gathered. However, ZZZ Megahex appears before them. At last, the battle for humanity heads towards the final stage: the universe! Their combined forces will bring about a miracle, which will birth a new legend in the history of Kamen Riders!

It seems like the last part might yet again involve past Riders popping up.

You know, with the mentioning of the CyberRoid name, does that mean it will be a prelude to a possible next batch of antagonist after the Roidmudes?
Also, I read somewhere that Proto-Drive's form is known as Type-Zero; also with the way Proto-Drive and the present Drive, makes a reference to Kamen Rider Ryuki, with how Shinji first achieve the form in its Blank state, to after making a Contract with Dragredder that his suit is more formidable to his opponents.

I see mentions of (Kamen Rider) Lupin, but strangely I've yet to see a picture of him in this thread.

Here we go. Our French thief rider, aka Zoruku Tojo who uses a knockoff Brake Gunner to transform.

NeonZ's post left out the character description of Lupin where it calls the thing "enhanced Roidmude CyberRoid ZZZ". Its probably only for the movie though.

Maybe this is a minor spoiler and CyberRoid is the actual classification of Mashin Chaser? There must be something different about him, after all, considering how he has a transformation device, and Lupin's is based on his too.

So, according to the main page, only 100 people will get copies of Drive episode 0 (though someone on Tokunation said it's the first million), what do you guys think are the chances someone at TV-N or O-T will get a copy for fansubbing? Or is this a non-issue and the Tokunation guy was right?

It seems like the last part might yet again involve past Riders popping up.

Probably, though that could also mean the other Gaim riders.

EDIT: Okay, turns out it IS 1 million people that get the disc (the article says 100万), so never mind then.

The best chances of getting the dvd of Drive Ep. 0 is during the first day of Movie War.
