Dunno offhand. What I recall is that the bulk of the Drake and Sasword stuff was written by Inoue and Yonemura didn't do much with either character.

EDIT: My pet theory regarding Decade's degeneration is that Toei only paid Sho Aikawa to write the first half of the series. So Toei goes into the second half of the show with no clear direction and, well, it shows. You get some fun arcs in the second half of Decade but there's no longer any sense of purpose to it.

I always thought that they were like "Oh crap, we can't get the original actors back. We only have Seto Koji,Tetsuo Kurata and the guy who gave Blade's director a nervous meltdown. What do we do?"

Inoue could've wrote in Decade Complete and the Diend stuff in a more interesting fashion, but those episodes hardly left Yonemura incapable of writing a coherent ending.

The main problem is that Inoue created no premise at all for those later worlds, aside from "there are more worlds". That was a big problem no matter how one looks at it. The arcs in the second half of Decade aren't really, individually, any worse than the ones pre-Nega World, yet most people started complaining about the series at that point because it seemingly had no direction.

Yonemura used Dai-Shocker as a way to tie in his arcs and give some direction to them. If, besides that, he also tried to finish the story in 2 episodes, I don't see how the result would have been very different from Last Story. Even if the events made thematic sense and followed the foreshadowing given by the show, there would be no time to properly set them up or explain them in any detail. The only advantage would be the lack of a cliff hanger that's later mostly ignored.

The best idea would be to just use another random world, without introducing a new recurring plot, and then finish the series in the 2 last arcs, rather than just the final one, but, that's only really true if they had known since the start that the screen time that Decade would have for himself in the Movie Wars feature wouldn't reach even the length of 2 episodes.

Seems unlikely. If they could get Seto Koji, Takayuki Tsubaki, and Toshiki Kashu, I feel like they could've gotten others--they just didn't bother.

I suspect you won't find a writer as vilified on this board as Inoue.

Yonemura's pretty good if Inoue isn't involved,but if you put those two together, your head might bleed from hitting the wall.

Ok seriousness aside, Takeru prolly would have been the most likely out of the "Big name former Rider actors" to come back. Ain't no chance in hell you gonna convince Joe and/or Hiro to take a break from their "high profiled Jdrama careers" to appear on the anniversary series of a kids show.

I know saying the "kids show" cliche is lame, but it is understandable in a sense. I mean ask any former American toku actors that are now BIG TIME STARS in "mature tv show" if they wanna return to their old "kids show" job, and you'll get one or two things..........

1) Laugh their ass off and tell you no chance in hell
2) Jack the price tag up on their appearance so high that the filming/production company would have to mortgage their houses just to get these guys to appear for one or two episodes

And I think that was one of these cases when it came to some of the former Heisei Rider alumni. I mean there are still rumored reports that Odagiri still wouldn't want to touch another toku series again b/c he didn't feel "respected" as an actor or something like that, so that kinda holds true. And do you honestly believe Hiro would return as Tendou unless Toei basically broke the bank for him?

With that being said, you're still 50% right. If Toei really WANTED TO bring these Heisei Rider alumni back, they would have broken the bank, sold their kids and mothers, etc. to make sure they could make them ALL return for a cameo apperance.

Anyways... to get sorta back on topic. The jp wiki for A to Z says that Toei's official site states that the movie takes place between 44 and 45. By now most of us already know that but for those of you who weren't sure or thought it was after the finale episode, there you go!

Considering the potential first scene in the movie is that other Foundation X guy dying in a helicopter explosion and releasing all the T2 Gaia Memories in the process, I would have to say it matches up well with the last scene of episode 44 where the first Foundation X guy gives the other Foundation X guy the suitcase of T2 Gaia Memories.
