Not that I necessarily disagree with this, but could you explain how that is? What is the superficial?

I have mixed feelings about this show. I loved the whole back-story of the undead, and I really liked the whole science vs religion thing they did near the end of the show. (The Trials were BADASS!)
My big problem was the characters, and the fact that they should have called the show "Kamen Rider Chalice"
Kenzaki got so little focus through the first half of the show, that you almost forgot that he was the main hero.
Garren seemed to be suffering from the Kabuto syndrome. He HAD to fight the other Riders, no matter how lame the reason was, and it made Tachibana look like a complete idiot who was willing to throw himself in front of a train if someone with a higher position told him to.
However, I want to give the writers credit for his "final battle". The speech he gave while beating the hell out of the Giraffa Undead almost gave me goosebumps.
Though, I also find it kinda funny, because it feels like the actor was giving a rant about how they had fucked up his character through the entire show
The show was all about Hajime, and he was the character I liked most. I love mystery characters. He almost felt like a new Gills to me.
Like what KingRanger said, it was indeed about Blade and his journey to ultimate heroism by self-sacrifice. Hajime was just the medium for Kenzaki to reach this, which is why it seemed like he was the focus, but in the bigger perspective, it just shows that what Kenzaki did was right, knowing that Hajime deserved a second chance at a human life, and not make it appear like Kenzaki totally gambled based on nothing.

Long overdue bump because I am approaching the threshhold of the final episode! It's been a real good series and I kinda want to go back and watch the beginning again soon. I mini-marathoned the past two nights to catch up (unintentionally; damn those cliffhangers!), and now all I have left is the finale. Hella excited! These last couple of arcs have been really tense, and...

Yeah, that's the impression I got after Tachibana's big speech at the end of episode 47. Strangely, that kinda puts it at a parallel with... My Little

I REALLY need to rewatch Blade. I enjoyed it, but I think my enjoyment of it was tempered slightly by watching it immediately after being burned by Faiz's ending, and then the slightly rocky early episodes didn't help matters. Still, I think rewatching it today knowing the direction the show will eventually go in will help immensely.
The show definitely has the best ending in the franchise to date, and one of my personal favorite arcs written by Inoue from a show outside of Agito.

Gee, I must be one of the few that really loves the early episodes. I'm really looking forward to reliving the beginning again, with all the atmosphere and setting up. From the Peacock Undead's introduction to Leangle's introduction, the show had me hooked.
Would that happen to be the "two Chalices" arc? I'm not familiar with Inoue yet, but I loved that arc. It was a big departure from Blade's mood and style up to that point, but I enjoyed the hell out of it (and two hot ladies in one arc, too! :thumbs
Gonna prolly watch that last episode in about an hour... excited!
