I don't know if this is the right thread to post this but,Can anybody tell me why do the Sentai Mechas or ultraman move so slowly? Is it because the gravity?

I still think if they had cast someone better as X1 Mask, then maybe he'd be remembered fondly, instead of being just a curiosity. The dude who played him was some singer whose band's popularity, it seems, was short lived. Imagine if a cool actor, one who was already familiar and popular to toku, had played X1 Mask, someone like Hiroshi Watari or Yutaka Hirose -- I think X1 Mask would have lived on in people's memories then.

Typically it's just because the suits are heavy, so the suit actors can't move all that quickly in them.

Maybe they used a scrub on purpose, just as a test. First of all was X1 Mask well recieved in its debut?

Like Shougo, I am a huge Hirose fan. In fact, he is my favorite Sentai actor and yes, he is definitely not X1.

In the case of Ultraman, I would guess that they move slowly so that the monsters don't look like they're moving even more slowly than they actually are. Also, moving more slowly gives it a sense of scale that you don't get as much when they move quickly.

I'll point out that modern Ultramen move quite a bit more quickly than their forebears, though.
