Is the Toku industry in the Philippines getting weak?

Oh i see but im not that interested on Hero TV's toku block(they've made a rerun of Shaider on weekdays AFAIK and guess what they didn't air the final "Special Episode" _).Cartoon Network aired Ryukendo on latenights(most likely a filler show) and PR OD(seems like PR shows aired is always more popular than those tagalized PR shows on ABS-CBN/Hero TV)..

yeah and the final episode had 6 minutes missing. i was recording it and was surprised that when shaider defeated fuuma ley-ar, there was a short gap and then the credits rolled. >:( iirc this is the butcher cut they aired on GMA, but i didnt think they were going to do the same in hero. and since it was dubbed 4 years ago, i wouldnt know who to ask about it at the studio. :redface2:

as for the space sheriff special, well, by the title itself, it indicates to me that it isnt necessarily a part of the shaider series. in fact when you watch it, it doesnt start with the opening seqeunce of shaider. although in the original shaider dvd it's titled "episode 49", i think it's a special episode mean to be shown after ALL 3 space sheriff shows. but TSP did dub it...

Speaking of Betty La Fea, why it doesn't air at TFC? I get pissed off that some of their shows are shown are incomplete or censor some parts (TV Patrol Wolrd weekday is shown with missing parts while the weekend edition is aired complete, another is Wowowee which censors the sponsors or cuts off the parts where Willie Revillame mentions the Philippine- only sponsors, it pisses me off).

it's probably because BLF has a different copyright overseas. anyway if you want to catch it, someone usually uploads it on www.pinoychannel.tv. it's like youtube but almost all the vids on it are of filipino TV shows from local stations. as soon as the latest episode is aired here, someone almost always uploads it immediately.

ABS-CBN's tagalized version of PR Mystic Force wasn't that great, its dubbed by a bunch of noobs(sheesh David Sta Maria voiced Nick/Red Mystic Ranger and Imperious, and his performance was so really lame....)...

David Sta. Maria? Well, he sucked as Nick but he rocked as Suzaku Kururugi!!:castlerock: Code Geass, anyone?

So the final episode was aired? Is that true?

So it's true that they include the 3 Space Sheriffs Special...

final episode was aired but the last 6 minutes or so was missing. i recorded it. shaider is on another run. episode 5 aired this afternoon.

the space sheriff special was dubbed but was not aired.

So the final episode was aired? Is that true?

I see its GMA 7's fault that short special episode of Shaider was deleted..Too bad Hero Tv also didn't air the episode which was a big turnoff for a Shaider fan like me..:redface2:

Oh well at least Hero TV aired the final unaired episodes of Shaider even if the dub mixing was a bit kinda defective(some Japanese audio are still intact)..

here's what i know and remember... back when GMA rebought shaider, they assumed it was going to do really well in the ratings. so to have a longer run, they wanted as many episodes as possible... so the original idea was the space sheriff special [counted as ep49] be included, and to make more episodes, TSP wanted to include the 2 movies [since they already dubbed one of them a long time ago and showed it in theaters with bioman and maskman movie] but since TSP didnt have the rights to the movies, they did their usual "magic" to extend the series.

i was talking this through with the technician in charge back then... the original plan was to cut apart the finale and cut apart the space sheriff special [since you can split the space sheriff special into 3 segments] to make more episodes...

so effectively, the last 6 minutes of the final episode would then be aired with the first 8 minutes of the special, and so on...

however, gma didnt even use these extra episodes which they requested. because shaider didnt even rate well... they had to cancel the first run and barely finished the second run. the ratings werent high enough to even need those extra episodes.

but once hero bought it, these "extra tsp-made filler episodes] were no longer needed and in the confusion, the techs didnt make another uncut copy of the finale.

tsp used to do this a lot. whenever their anime is rating extremely well on GMA, they'd be asked for more episodes and they'd "make their own". They made a couple of "best games" special episodes for slam dunk and "best fight scenes" episodes for hunter x hunter. which in later runs were never seen again.

the space sheriff special wasnt a "short" episode. it was 24 mnutes just like any other episode, iirc.

in fairness to hero, they dont have any idea about what they air. they only air what is provided them. so if tsp provided them edited episodes, that's what they will in turn broadcast. hero is going to air tsp's 8 year old dub of KNIGHT HUNTERS starting today, and i bet just like GMA, they will NOT air that one episode with the priest-killer. [episode 18, iirc]

the last episodes of shaider were dubbed only 4 years ago... the japanese company didnt provide music and effects tracks [technically called ME tracks] anymore. they didnt even provide video. the video was taken from the original DVD and the music and effects tracks were made using "TSP magic"... if there is no dialog and only reactions [ugh! hyaaa!], they just keep the original japanese... if there is dialog, they'd make their own SFX and put in music from a soundtrack CD with BGM's.

I've noticed that when Hero TV aired the final episodes of Shaider, well episode# 48 was somewhat streched or cut into two parts which was weird IMHO,to be honest i wish instead of doing that well they've aired the special episode instead as a consolation to all Shaider fans that's longing to see the final unaired episodes but it seems like just what you've said the guys there at Hero TV don't know what theyre doing..

Oh well i really miss that "Bioman-Maskman-Shaider The Movie" which was shown in local theaters almost twenty years ago(back then Maskman is still being aired on IBC 13 every Friday evenings AFAIK when the movie was shown in theaters).:buttrock: I hope someday TSP would re-air those movies..

Oh just to know:
the Bio-Mask-Shaider movie was actually three separate movies, In what year was that released in the Philippines? (Didn't catch it) Was that allowed by Toei?

I never heard of a toku movie being shown in Philippine cinemas...

the Bio-Mask-Shaider movie was shown in our local cinemas in 1989 and a compiled ultraman great movie was shown in 1991.

oh my...am i that old?

i dont know what year that was shown in theaters in the philippines but it was definitely allowed by toei. you need theatrical rights to show movies. and back then, all 3 of those shows were really popular here. if tsp didnt have the rights, toei surely would have taken notice.

@boogie: i didnt see the "second part" of episode 48 you mentioned. after the first 16 mins, they aired episode 1 on the next airdate.

except for the shaider movie, the other 2 have been sold around as bootlegs for a long time... i have the shaider tagalized movie in vhs somewhere...

I see they've also shown those Ultraman movies in 1991 in english..I think there's another Japanese movie shown or aired here which was later turned into to a toku later(Space Wars toku version was aired here in 1993 on SBN 21 in english) and that movie was Message From Space(you know that Star Wars ripoff with Hiroyuki Sanada in it....).Sir Warchie knows that one..

BTW i think the reason why the Bioman,Maskman and Shaider movies were shown in 1989 is just to market and popularize the tagalized Maskman which at that time still aired on IBC 13(it was later transferred to ABS-CBN 2 in 1990 AFAIK).. I think back then they call it and some of its toys tagged it as Bioman 2:Maskman which was the same name used in France by TF1 France's Club Dorothee'(CD's French dubbed Bioman was a big hit in France)...I think even Liveman(too bad Telesuccess never bother acquiring this last great Super Sentai) was tagged as Bioman 3:Liveman,weird huh...

BTW i wonder if the Bioman movie was tagalized if those movies are still intact in the vault of TSP?
