Is the Toku industry in the Philippines getting weak?

it would be nice if they fixed that 4-show block [the 6pm-8pm weekday block] to cater to all... 1 toku, 1 kiddie anime, 1 shounen 1 shoujo anime or something like that.

imho they have to have some sort of variety otherwise they'll end up messing it up like heroTV did. i'm referring to the fact that most if not all of HeroTV's shows have the same characteristics... they want the protagonist to be some brave kid with "inspiring" values and traits, never backing down from adversity, etc.

this isnt just a personal observation... philippine daily inquirer had a special section on cosplayers on one of their sunday editions and in a part of that, they interviewed the execs of HeroTV... they were quoted saying those kinds of shows in particular are all they ever buy and try to show in their channel. :redface2:

this is like a very unlikely thing to come true... but if they can bring or make animax-asia... wouldnt it be great if someone just bought the cable rights for asia of the TOEI CHANNEL? they'd have all that toku and new and classic anime all day everyday... and the only real decision to be made is to sub it or dub it... im not a big toku fan but that would really do it for me...

oh... sorry i forgot... it's already xmas here in the phil. MERRY XMAS EVERYONE.

Merry Christmas also to you, sir!

Anyway, Kamen Rider Dragon Knight will have its world premiere on January 3 on the CW4Kids. According to Adness Entertainment's Japanese ebsite, it will be released not only in the US but also in Mexico, Germany and some parts of the world.

Ryoichi Asukai: 2010? Actually, the whole series finished filming a few months ago and ready for distribution. Maybe June or August next year Tv5 (or CS9) will get Kamen Rider Dragon Knight.:castlerock:

CW? i see... that'll be surely available on mininova then

i doubt cs9 will pick it up. cs9 is heavily concentrated on basketball now... with both nba and pba... they already moved almost all of their crime shows to c/s origins, a destiny cable-exlusive channel.

Another thing that plagues Zaido IMHO, is probably the limited amount of timeframe that the producers, directors, and artists have to do to produce one episode.

I mean, the Japanese had about a week to prepare before releasing just one episode, while us Filipinos release an episode on a daily basis. As such, shows released in that manner feel like rushed for me. :redface2:

It's just my own opinion, though. I couldf be wrong...

no, you're right. that's how philippine tv has evolved. it has to be aired everyday and as a result the show is kinda rushed and overly dragging. a typical zaido story arc would take about 5-8 episodes but that would be equivalent to just 1 standalone episode of shaider.

another example is the philippine licensed version of SURVIVOR. a typical season of survivor in the us would last 14-15 45 minute episodes [reunion included] but the phil version last 65 episodes [20-25 minutes each] excluding the reunion. it was shown 5 days/week, this is usually how a week goes:

monday - camp life
tuesday - reward challenge
wednesday - winners enjoy reward challenge, losers do more camp life
thursday - immunity challenge, strategize for tribal council
friday - tribal council

if they notice that ratings are high, tribal council is held on friday but verdict is shown on monday. >:(

the next step in UNoriginality is they are buying foreign dramas then producing local version. we already have 3 spanish dramas with local versions [marimar, lalola, betty la fea], so far 2 korean dramas [all about eve & kim samsoon]. and they're all like zaido... if you've seen the original, the local version is waaaay different.

There's possibility that Cartoon Network Philippines will air KR Dragon Knight next year now that they're short on new toku shows(the english dubbed Ryukendo wasn't that great,i'd rather watch KR Blade on TV5 instead and Power Rangers OD is ending sometime in July 09)...Most likely the airing of KR Dragon Knight will be backed by Ban Kee Trading.. Oh well it seems like Bandai really wanted the KR franchise to prosper in other parts of the world now that its Americanized but handled by real toku experts(the guys who made Guyver of course)...

BTW there are rumors also that Ultraman Tiga and Mebius will be aired on Cartoon Network(its dubbed by Red Angel Media of HK,the same team that dubbed Tsubasa Chronicles season 2,Cloudcolor Palace and Princess Be Careful on Animax which are all badly dubbed in english...).:redface2:

BTW ABS-CBN will air Ultraman Max on January 10 every weekend mornings at 9:10 a.m. Good news to us but i hope Ryukendo(i know even if this show looked like a Kamen Rider Ryuki and Blade ripoff) and Sazer X will be aired on local free TV(KR Dragon Knight will be dubbed in Tagalog of course in free TV on ABS-CBN 2 likely)..

I hope also that the english dubbed version of Tomica Rescue Heroes will be dubbed here instead by TSP and not those HK dubbers who don't know about dubbing animes and toku properly.:buttrock:

max is already being reaired on heroTV saturdays-sundays on 9:30am after ryuki and gransazer. abs seems to like porting their heroTV titles into abs cbn.

nexus is both on heroTv [tue and thu 1:00pm] and on weekends on gma... both are of different dubs.

so far all KR's are still dubbed by TSP.

Oh i see but im not that interested on Hero TV's toku block(they've made a rerun of Shaider on weekdays AFAIK and guess what they didn't air the final "Special Episode" _).Cartoon Network aired Ryukendo on latenights(most likely a filler show) and PR OD(seems like PR shows aired is always more popular than those tagalized PR shows on ABS-CBN/Hero TV)..

ABS-CBN's tagalized version of PR Mystic Force wasn't that great, its dubbed by a bunch of noobs(sheesh David Sta Maria voiced Nick/Red Mystic Ranger and Imperious, and his performance was so really lame....)...

That's the problem. Hero should also air Gavan and Sharivan too, so they can air the finale.

Yeah I don't watch the tagalized PR, even though here in the US I don't even bother to watch PR. I only spend itme watching Rescue Force on Fridays and Go-Onger and Kiva on Saturdays. (I do that with Keyhole TV, a internet powered application that allows me to watch Japanese TV)

Tomica Hero Rescue Force? yeah I hope to see it tagalized... CN or Hero can take it.

Well at least Toku is finally being revived slowly but surely in Philippine free tv.

Speaking of Betty La Fea, why it doesn't air at TFC? I get pissed off that some of their shows are shown are incomplete or censor some parts (TV Patrol Wolrd weekday is shown with missing parts while the weekend edition is aired complete, another is Wowowee which censors the sponsors or cuts off the parts where Willie Revillame mentions the Philippine- only sponsors, it pisses me off).

this is like a very unlikely thing to come true... but if they can bring or make animax-asia... wouldnt it be great if someone just bought the cable rights for asia of the TOEI CHANNEL? they'd have all that toku and new and classic anime all day everyday... and the only real decision to be made is to sub it or dub it... im not a big toku fan but that would really do it for me...

Yeah that will be great.. I was wishing for it too, not just in The Philippines but also for America...

Oh, also, the Toei-Disney joint Project 3D anime "RoboDz Kazagumo Hen" will air on Disney XD (The new name/combination of Toon Disney and Jetix in the US), but I hope RoboDz also will be aired on ABS-CBN soon... ABS has less Toei shows so far.
