Protip for tokusatsu: Oi! Shikari shite!! = "hang in there!" and ii kagen ni shinasai! = "calm down! / behave yourself!". Once you learn those, you essentially know what's being said in every.tokusatsu.ever.

Coming from someone who Failed Japanese 101, this may not help, but i have heard that (for some people) just listening to TV shows and songs can really help you pick up the language.
I can say i've learned more that way than in any classroom (mind, i'm FAR from Fluent and can't write with a damn)

If you're looking for a decentish way to learn, Japanesepod101 is a really great resource with podcast-like episodes that teach you stuff and a ton of other resources.
EDIT - Oh, come on! Don't delete your post!
I call Timer/Distro in your New Group.
I call QC, typesetter =P
Anways, I'm taking japanese 101. Pretty easy to me so far since it stuff I learned when I was a kid/already knew from watching japanese stuff and whatnot. So yeah, perhaps, if possible, take a class.
And I wont say my grade is so far cause I dont want to make Metal feel bad XD
You should try taking the class again?
This be true.
It isn't! Japanese is never even thought to be an option at Catholic schools, and I'm going to college for Art, classes in college would be a no-no also.
My friend who goes to public school has friends that take J-Classes, I'm looking at them and going.."Man I'd be in freakin AP Japanese if I took those classes...I'd be a beast!".
Ask the coordinator. I went to a Catholic Highschool and although they didn't offer Japanese during the year they did offer it as a summer course. Just ask.
Otherwise there may be online courses through schools that you can take.
