Japanese Actors - How they learn

We need a like button for post like this. I read the whole triple threat thing and well i think a lot of them excel at all three. But maybe strong at say acting then singing. Multi talented ftw in this case/.

lol I agree. I rarely pay attention to the person's singing side of their carreer though.

all the actors and actresses you see in Tokusatsu are known as Tarento, a TV personality who does acting, singing, modelling, talk shows etc. most of them were picked off the street randomly by scouting agents, so that's why they're not really professionally trained in those fields.

how they learn everything is simple: they learn it on the spot, even if they suck at it, they still have to. since you used the Goseigers as an example, I shall go ahead with that. all 5 Goseigers started out as models, but never learnt how to act in a drama series until Goseiger. I've read stories of them getting scolded really badly by their director (I dunno which one but one of the directors) for not acting good enough on set despite being newbies.

You give me the impression that they are kidnapped strangers Jacks.

They were scolded? Man I can only imagine how harsh the directors were. :disappoin

That's crazy. So no wonder they're decent/good actors. They let it all out, and don't know if they're making mistakes because they were never taught anything to begin with, and on top of that they get yelled at, picked on, and embarrased.

Totally agree with you & the OP. American actors who are currently doing english dubs of Japanese animes & English versions of Live-Action shows could surely learn or take some acting lessons from the Japanese, especially when it comes shows like Power Rangers Samurai. Only the actors who played as Bulk & the Green Samurai Ranger knew how to act in that show so far.

Yup, Bulk and Hector are the best out of the bunch. Hector is good, because you can see he's super siked to be there. He's very enthusiastic.

Bulk has always been great, throughout his history with PR.

Id imagine they are just that damn good at this. Even bad they are good. Kind of makes me jealous.

I don't know about you, but I think that being scolded by the directors for bad acting is a good thing, it keeps the actors/actresses up on their toes so that they don't slack off, unlike what they do so far in USA (not sure about that, though).

Oh this is totally true. But I just think there should be a line somewhere, you know?

It's good, but at the same time I'd still be pissed.

I'm still shocked Jacky said they were (probably) scolded, because during Goseiger I thought the complete opposite. I thought they were letting the cast do w/e the hell they wanted.

Glad to see I was wrong.

I feel kind of bad for the Gosei actors/actresses then. They shouldn't get bullied or anything due to the fact they were just thrown there, I haven't seen Gosei but the cast is good looking for the most part. I just pegged them all models. I know the girls are at least. Those poor bby's. We should go give them hugs, :3

^I agree with both of you on that part. Even those that just got started acting do need some lovin'! :anime:
