I like Kamen Rider Kiva, But....

Two things save Kiva for me. First is Otoya, the best and most fun character in the series. Second is the utter ridiculousness.

It's the only other Kamen Rider show so far that I plan on re-watching.

Otoya, yeah. He did saved the whole show for many. But then again, even his presence couldn't save Kiva for me, I just dislike it that much. Since I was pretty disappointed with it. You know, a vampire themed Kamen Rider, a chopper bike, and scans of him walking in night time. All that didn't came out as we expected. Bah.

Statistically, someone had to. 2008 Kamen Rider started off weak, but it became my fourth favorite after Kuuga/Agito/Blade (until W came along). Wataru became all business upon transforming, Otoya was awesome, Emperor Form looked great, form spam's fanboy stupid logic (what IDIOT fights at half strength when they don't have to), the fights were great, Nago was cool, and I enjoyed the story.

Kiva had its flaws, but it was good.

Kiva's story got soo messed up for me that I stopped watching after Mio was introduced. No offense, but I hated how Mio and Wataru got together. It gave me shivers. The fact that Mio was like a female copy of Wataru made me puke a little. When she got rider kicked, I thought that the series was getting better. Instead Wataru became some emo. Also, When Wataru wore 86' King's outfit made me laugh soo hard that I fell off my chair. Wataru looked soo ridiculous I couldn't stop laughing. Also, I wondered how he got those clothes in the first place. I hated how the last battle seemed so rushed as well. I mean, the Bat Fangire was brought back, but there was no real story behind it. Bishop went crazy cause I think Taiga bitch slapped him. Then before IXA pwned him, he revived the Bat Fangire. I expected Bishop to absorb the Bat Fangire's energy to become some big monster thing. Another problem I had was how many things in the show were used for like one episode. Like Kiva's forms for example. After Emperor Form came in, you never saw those forms again. IXA's dragon thing was liked used only once and his fake fuestles were also used once. Sure, this usually happens in all Rider shows, but it pissed me off a lot more in Kiva, probably because I saw a lot of potential in it. The last thing that pissed the life out of me was the over used Emperor Form. Holy ****, after Tatsulot was introduced. Every single damn time Kiva was in a fight, he would become Emperor. All his forms were never seen again. Only Kiva form was seen, but for like 3 seconds just to become Emperor. Also, what ever happened to Wataru wanting to make the "perfect" violin? I mean, that was pretty much abandoned after.

The best things about Kiva though, were the violin (since I do play it myself), Otoya, and the suit designs.

I think me & you share the same general reasons for why we like Kiva. You've basically summed it up for me.

I know some people even knocked Wataru for being a pansy as well, but he's no Ryotaro. At least with Wataru, whenever the "violin played" he went from "pussy" to "badass" in a split-minute when it came to ass-kicking Fangire time. Ryotaro on the other hand was a consistent pussy throughout if you remove the Imagins from the picture. But the Den-O vs. Kiva debate is another conversation, so I'll just leave it there :P

I don't think I am far enough to judge the series by plot-holes or flaws of any kind that really hinder the series, but it really is a fun series. I watch it for that. Some say it's really bad, but it's soooo entertaining. I really enjoy it, unlike Faiz or Hibiki which constantly pissed me off.

I mean, same goes for Kabuto. It was a fairly bad series, but it was one the most ridiculous, fun, and cool show's we had in the franchise.

The characterization also could have been much better. For example, Yuri and Megumi had this absolute grudge against Rook (and Megumi just doesn't have the excuse that Yuri does), and they continued to delude themselves into thinking that killing Rook would put their mothers at peace.

Time-and-time again, I thought that they would understand that the vendetta was about their own frustrations and desires, that Shima would just talk to them about it, and maybe fight anyway not because of vengeance but because it was the right thing to do.

I was disappointed many times.

Also, Otoya's IXA armored hand being just there for Wataru to catch on the cliff was the best freaking moment the series had.

So true.
