Plot: (taken from Wikipedia)
Emma, Cleo and Rikki are sixteen year old girls growing up on the sun-drenched beaches of the Gold Coast. Emma is confident and athletic, Cleo is slightly insecure and awkward while Rikki is the aloof and rebellious new girl.

Because of Rikki, the girls find themselves stranded at sea one day, floating towards the mysterious Mako Island. The three girls find themselves exploring the eerie jungle-covered island before becoming trapped in an ancient cavern under a volcano. Discovering an underwater channel, they decide to swim to safety. As they enter the pool, the light from a full moon illuminates the water, creating a mysterious glow.

Emma, Cleo and Rikki get off the island as fast as they can and back to "normal" life. However, the girls discover life is never going to be normal again; ten seconds after they touch water, they turn into mermaids. After further experimentation, they find they have supernatural powers; Emma can freeze water, Rikki can boil water and Cleo can turn a drop of water into a bucketful and mould it into any shape.

The girls enlist the help of their friend Lewis, who considers himself a scientist, and he attempts to discover the secret behind their transformations.

Everyday situations turn tricky as the girls struggle to cope with their new-found powers, which have numerous advantages and disadvantages, while also trying to keep them a secret from everyone else.

Can any mod sticky this?

Nice show.

However, i wonder why the thread appeared just now...

Because only two of HJU folks who know this are me and someone else that i can't remember but said is having a hard time to catchup on the said show.

I loved the show so much when it premiered in the Philippines and i fell in love with it for one reason: Emma, on of the main characters who can be a mermaid. another is because of the effects of the full moon upon her. (check out ep. 7, "Moon Spell")

How far into the series are you? Jetix here (Central and East European channels) aired first half of 2nd season just a few weeks ago... cropped 4:3 (just like 1st season). Luckily for us the show was filmed with a "safe zone" making it look natural when cropped.

Why? The only talkbacks that we sticky are for PR right now.

Well... ok.

As of now the first season since it's just starting in the Philippines via terrestrial channel Q-11 on Fridays (2 episodes every Friday). last Friday it was supposed to air episodes 11-12 (by order) but i was shocked they skipped to episode 37-38. also ep. 38 is another of my faves since this involved Emma in a horrible change after she cut herself with a coral.

There is no need for this topic to be stickied. If every series were to be stickied then popular ones such as Doctor Who and Torchwood would have stickied a long time ago.

My teen and preteen daughters think it's a really boring show.

Oh well i understood it Mikazuki but why would your daughters not want it? i mean, I call it "the live-action equivalent" to Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch- without the singing.
