GARO: Makai Senki - Talk Up!

So would I be right in assuming that the final boss is yet another 5 story tall nearly naked AV model?

Anyway, for all the praise I gave the first episode weeks back, I really need to get back to this show. It's just that higher priority shows have my attention at the moment.

EDIT: Whoops, edited the wrong post.

Nakedness in Garo? Never heard of it... :169:

Yup. He and Silva gets human forms. In season 1 no less.

They weren't really human forms, it was just the voice actors appearing in the very odd abstract special from the first series.

So would I be right in assuming that the final boss is yet another 5 story tall nearly naked AV model?

This is so hilariously not what happens that only people who have seen it will understand.

I have four brief thoughts upon completing Makai Senki:

1) It honestly feels like the second half of a typical 50 episode show rather than a 'sequel'. Whereas shows like Black RX or Ultraman Dyna had a completely new story with appearances by old characters.

2) The second OP sounds like something from a Rider or Sentai. The shots of Garo walking toward the camera also looks like something in a Heisei Rider OP.

3) Am I the only one who thinks the last battle with Sigma was unnecessary and over the top? Having the house fly around (I feel sorry for Kaoru and Gonza after making that dinner. I always hated fights in tight quarters, you feel bad for the ordinary people whose work you're upsetting) and break apart while they duel, with Kaoru and Leo floating around next to them? It started to look funny after a while. This looked like an excuse to show off more special effects for the hell of it. "Hey look what we can do!"

4) Did they ever make a Roudo costume, or was it entirely in CGI?

My biggest problem with Makai Senki was that the existing characters like Jabi and Rei really don't play a big part in it.

Rekka was always a Jabi clone for me anyway, and Dan just turns up for cameos. Jabi is one of my favourite supporting characters so the more of her we can have in future the better.

Well Rei gets three or four episodes all to himself, and Jabi gets one. I agree about Tsubasa getting very little screentime. He doesn't even show up in the Senate with the other Knights.

Speaking of the other Knights, I know it was the cheap way out but their armors look like low-level enemies from a video game, and were exactly alike but for some color changes.

I do love the way the Kouga/Kaoru romance is treated though. A great change to the melodrama you normally get from romances in an action series. Even if there are times when I'm sat there thinking "for ****'s sake man, kiss the girl already!!!"

I agree. I liked how it wasn't sappy or tried too much to be "romantic". They don't even have to hold hands and be overt; just seeing them walking and talking with Kaoru occasionally mocking Kouga's 'tough-guy' persona looks much better. Their banter (even before they become an actual couple) can be pretty funny, even cute in its own way.

I felt the final battle after the epic saving of all dimensions was an appropriate denoument that brought the fight to being something personal.

Also, did you notice who Sigma was and that he was one of the kids Kouga once trained with?

Although I like Makai Senki, for some reason I felt that the first series is still superior over its sequel, and the final battle between Garo and Sigma wasn't as amazing as I thought it would. I hope the third series will be good, but with the cast turnover I'm not sure if I'll like it or not.
