Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core (PSP)

PSP software sales aren't the best from what I've heard and it does make sense. If it's that easy to DL and play games for free, they might actually be losing some sales versus what happens on the PC. But you can DL games for the DS and it's software sales are just fine.

What's the difference?

cuz its easier to pirate games for the psp than the ds

not that i do it o.O...seriously ..i don't XD although an r4 is looking awfully nice :3

that and ds is marketed more towards younger audiences... ..can u imagine telling your kids to d/l the game off the internet? XD

What's the difference?

There are more than double the number of DS's on the market worldwide than PSP's. If you assume the same number or pirates on both, it will affect the PSP more. Even if there are more pirates on the DS, it's likely a smaller fraction and won't affect sales as much.

I don't think the PSP will fall though. Sony will just learn from it and make another machine that is harder to hack and easier to get legit games for. They're smart and forward thinking. They've been the kings for so long, I can't see anything they do suffering the same fate as SEGA and the Dreamcast.

Unless they come to the conclusion that R&D costs for revising the hardware outweigh flagging software sales and scrap the PSP altogether. It's a very real possibility. The PSP has been doing very well lately, but software is what drives the system.

I thought the DC's main downfall was lack of a DVD player, and not so much rampant piracy.

Seriously? Rampant piracy, fallout from the Saturn (lack of 3rd party & retailer support) and Sega's own ineptitude are what killed it.

I would have thought DS pirating is so much easier than the PSP. You don't have to worry about any firmware updates, you just put the ROMs on the card and plug it in.
