Does the cast have any input when filming?

This doesn't only apply to Power Rangers (even though that's what I was thinking about when making this thread), but it also has to do with any movies, TV shows, animated shows, etc etc. And not only for filming, but the scripts as well. Like, if they have a different vision compared to the writer or producer, can they put in their 2 cents so to say?

as far as I know with the way Toei works, the cast members do have the rights to give ideas for a future episode, but not entirely changing the original script that has already been written.

I can only speak from my movie experience.

When I was the lead actor I had a little input as to how I did my lines. The director let me say like "I dunno, since we want that to be funny maybe I should say it like this..." and he could either go with it or tell me no. And sometimes it was just about doing something during the scene for a little extra comedic effort, he was open to those little inputs but not input on the movie itself. Like for example, there's a part where I leaned around a door frame to be all sexy and I rigged my shirt to make it pop open. He thought that was hilarious and we kept it in. But when I told him the outdoor fight made no sense and it might be a good idea to scrap it, he disagreed and we had to film it anyway.

But now from times when I'm the director, as long as the story we set up is followed, I let my actors have some fun with their characters. Heck there's a whole scene from one thing that was improved but they hit the basic points and it wound up flowing more naturally so I loved it.

It depends usually how the script and director are and what you're doing. Indie films have a little more leeway, where bigger productions will usually be a lot more strict.

I would think with Toei and the PR franchise they leave a little bit up to the actors. That's just because in a series you've really got to live as that character for an extended time, so they're going to let you add your flare and play it your way within their parameters.

IIRC, in Goseigers, they only had that Moune cheerleading episode because of her background in cheerleading.

But overall, producers often give "creative-control" to actors who are credible enough to know what they're doing.

Yes but it depends on the cast or actor. If your Miley Cyrus or Miranda Cosgrove you can put your 2 cents in but if your a newbie. You have to STFU and gain it first.

If they don't like the line, or have some interesting input that the director/ writers like, then yes- they can ask to change some things.
