[GAME] CthulhuTech: The Eldritch Society -- Episode 1

Rotor made a surprised squeak when Daredevil lifted her in her tentacle, but the noise was thankfully drowned by the crash of a wave, preventing the crewman on the deck from hearing her. She looked at the Whisper with wide eyes for a moment after they had touched down, then after gathering herself once more, she glanced up towards the roof where Lancer and Ghost were still hunkered, hidden. “What about you guys?”

"Oh yea, right." Ghost thought tagerpathically. He edged himself to the ledge of the roof and gripped it with his hands, allowing the lower half of his body to descend with great control. He dropped to the ground and compacted himself upon his descent, minimizing the amount of noise to almost nil. "I'd say we take the stealthy approach and just hunker down under the tarp and let the crew do the work, unless anyone wants to knock them out, of course. I'm up for either, but I'll head over to the tarp just in case."

And with his plan of action in his mind, Ghost crept carefully and silently towards the tarp.

Feast had shifted back to Gray under the tarp, grateful that the sounds of several bones popping in place was masked by the waves. Gray then laid as still as possible, suddenly exhausted from the battle. Well... exhausted from his mental battle with the Vampire more accurately.

Lancer looked towards the tarp the others were hiding under, then over to the deckhand still standing outside. She still wasn't fond with all the sneaking around, but it was the better way to go about things. Besides, there'd be time for slaughtering these folks later. Lancer followed Ghost, making her way down as quietly and stealthily as a hulking murderbeast could manage.

[HIDE]Oh man, who's ready for an unskilled Stealth check? Surely this won't end poorly.

Ghost’s Easy Test: SUCCESS.

Ghost easily made it ahead of the rest, crossing the gap separating the towboat from the barge without the earlier, embarrassing clumsiness he had suffered when alighting from the wall of the harbour.

“Guess it’s been decided, then,” said Rotor. She turned to Daredevil and Lancer, “I’ll see you on the other side, okay?”

Using her Agility Attribute (5) as a base, Rotor rolls an untrained Stealth Test (4).

Rotor’s Easy Test: SUCCESS.

She took off after Ghost, her already light footfalls covered by the sounds of the sea, but as she reached the gap, she stopped. After a moment to steel herself, remembering well the course of events that had left her in her currently soaking wet state, she leapt across the space. Ghost’s hands reached out to catch hers, steadying her as she landed, and the two darted across the floor of the barge to where Torch and Stealth awaited, and where Feast had already ensconced himself beneath the tarp.

Lancer’s Easy Test: FAILED.

Lancer did not have such good fortune as the two who went before her. She lowered her bulky form towards the deck, but as she did so, part of the edge of the cabin’s roof came away in her hand with an audible and cringe-worthy snap, and she crashed loudly down onto the deck. It did not take any great strength of mind to realise that she had drawn the attention of Keith the deckhand, and he was already on his way over to investigate the sound.

Daredevil may roll her own Stealth Test, using her Agility as a base, as the others have done.

If Lancer chooses to attempt to escape before she is spotted, she must roll an Agility Feat Test and beat Keith’s Perception Feat Test to avoid being found out. If she chooses to stand her ground and attempt to kill him instead, she need only wait for him to reach her.

Daredevil looked at Lancer's and actually face palmed this mission had the decidedly unwelcome trait of becoming bad comedy. The recon Tager looked around quickly for something to use a distraction.

9>10 - 1/2 =5 +11=16

finding a toolbox with a wide selection of tools she grabbed the whole box and pitched it as hard as she could, hoping the large noise from the weight hitting the water would distract the searcher

9+10+7 - 26

"Run!" she called to Lancer in Tagerpathy and bolted for the tarp.

Daredevil’s Easy Test: SUCCESS.

As much as I would prefer this to not become a regular practise, as it makes the topic confusing for others and requires me to break the flow to clarify facts, Arieoelle did clear her next actions by me via Skype. She did not simply presume she had found something.

A quick glimpse about the surrounding area led Daredevil’s insectoid eyes to a metal toolbox. The red paint was badly scratched and worn, and the surface of the box dented and abused. Inside was a small selection of everyday instruments, which somebody had carelessly left out after finishing their maintenance work for the day. The Whisper lifted the box in two of her hands, turned her attention towards the stern of the boat, which was the part backed up close by the harbour wall.

Daredevil’s Easy Strength Feat Test: SUCCESS.

Daredevil hefted the rattling toolbox above her head, and with a great heave, she hurled it through the air. A spanner fell from the box and clattered against the floor, along with several loose bolts and screws, and the rest splashed loudly into the sea. The crewman started in the direction of the clamour.

“Bugger’s making a dive for it!” he cried. He took out a battery torch and shone it over the waters between the stern and the wall. Joe came running out immediately to join him. Their backs were to the area where Daredevil and Lancer were situated, perhaps they could escape to the barge and the safety of the tarpaulin in the few moments Daredevil’s actions had bought them.

“Did you see ‘em?” asked Joe.

“No, but I heard,” replied Keith.

“Must be mad to go swimmin’ down there,” said Joe, “what, with all them ‘orrible things about!”

Lancer no longer needs to roll her Agility Feat Test and is free to follow Daredevil.

Not about to let the momentary distraction go to waste, Lancer darted for the tarp, shifting back to her regular form as she did. Stealth was something she'd never be adept at in her altered shape. The last of her changes finished up just as she made it under the tarp, coming face to face with the rest of her teammates. Her newly reformed ears burned in embarrassment as her gaze met theirs.

Sorry! Kaly mouthed, not wishing to draw any more attention than she already had.

The crashing and scrambling all floated by Gray without notice. His bond was strong.. perhaps strongest of them all. The taste... the smell... the need. Gray clenched a fist as the phantom senses washed over him. Blood.

Feral eyes snapped open, rapidly surveying the whole group. Gray blinked slowly several times. "No enemies here." Gray reminded himself. The Vampire reluctantly withdrew a bit further into Gray's mind.

"Next part of the mission is?" He asked mentally

Daredevil took one last look around then skittered under the tarp while once more becoming the mortal Liny. her dark gray skin blending well in the thriving shadows beneath the canvas roof.

"Fun, maybe no do again" she said quietly with a casual shrug as if the team nearly getting caught multiple times were no big deal.
