Classic Sentai Thoughts

The finale is so god-awful, it's what keeps Jetman from being in my top five favorite Sentais.

Even when he was good, Toshiki Inoue never knew how to write a finale.

Someone agrees with me! The finale almost made me throw my computer out of the window. It's a rare feat for the finale of a show to be so bad that it almost destroys the rest of the series.

Thanks. I think these writers need to get interviewed. To see what they're thinking during particular parts of their shows.

Man my thoughts exactly! When writers do stupid ****, I'd like to know what the hell is crossing their minds when they do it, and how they feel after.

So the word spoil..

Anyone know what that means? lol

Chojin Sentai Jetman. Original run: February 15, 1991 – February 14, 1992. lol.

Though to be fair we probably should have covered the spoilers, but when talking about a show this old it's just not really going to be anybody's first instinct to think about that.

I actually am starting to wonder about Inoue's reasons for why he writes his finales the way he does.

Does he do it in a way that has some deep meaning for why the show ends the way it does, and that the fans have to figure it out?

Is it cause he just wants to surprise the fans by doing something that they would not expect to have happened in the shows?

I basically just get the sense that he's either burned out or maybe started at some point started believing his own hype so he does a lot of stuff he thinks is deep but is really just cheap and pretentious. Any writer can take a whiz on a happy ending, it proves nothing.

Not to mention point-missing. I mean did he really think anybody was going to a remake of the original Kamen Rider looking for long, drawn out angst involving Cobra and Snake? It still boggles my mind they dropped the ball on that and hiring Inoue to write it was their first mistake. What a waste of great suit designs.

Though Jetman is my fave sentai, I felt the last five episodes of the show was asanine and idiotic, not just Gai getting stabbed by the mugger. Vampire Maria? A duel at sunset with the leader of a vast alien military regime at his whim? the fact that he comes to honor it? Is this really how they were going to end such an epic series!? The second the villians base came to become demon-Radiguets new hat, I had about it with the damn show. I think I started to degrade when they turned Tranza, one of the best villians in super sentai history, into a comatose vegetable.

I was hoping Ryu was going to be the one axed; his story was complete, he lost his love, he would die fighting for his home, blah blah blah, and if he had died in battle, blowing up with the jet icarus or whatever I would have been fine with it. I think everyone would have been fine with it and would have loved the show even more.

But they decided to kill the Lone wolf, so predictable. they could have done so much better with the end. The dying at the wedding thing doesn't bother me all that much since I just see it as artistic license.
