Bruce Wayne is back... soon!

2 Batmen.....Eh, I can deal with that. I can see in the longrun Dick becoming the lone Batman and Bruce becoming something like Oracle. This is sounding better

DC would never turn Bruce Wayne into an Oracle like character, it would kill their sales. The only true Batman is Bruce Wayne and DC would never change that since he is (IIRC) their most successful character

Well, there are two Flash in DC universe.

I'm definitely looking forward to see two Batmen together! :buttrock:

This is just one giant cash-grab by DC. They realize that anything with the word "Batman" is going to sell, so they are pushing out as much as they can

Again I am left to wonder if Morrison honestly doesn't understand who Bruce Wayne is? First he has him use a gun in Final Crisis and now he has him abandoning Gotham City. This is a basic aspect of the character that Morrison is throwing away. Bruce's goal is to clean-up Gotham and given the option he would never hand that off to anyone else. Has no one learned from Final Crisis Morrison can't do in-continuity stories.
Neither could any of the people who turned batman so dark and gritty to begin with. Honestly for me this idea seems like a natural progression for Bruce. After all he's been through I don't think he's that "GRRR GET OUT OF MY CITY" type of guy anymore.

So is every major decision in comics ever, when are you going to learn that?

It's also a very creative and game-changing idea that works within the mythos and where every major peice of Dennis O'Neil or Neil-Adams approved Batman had been going in the 1970s and beyond.

Batman stopped being about the "one man crusade" YEARS ago as the Bat-Family grew around him, so stop pretending otherwise.

Honestly it's not, it is a contrived change that has no basis in any story before now. For nearly 70 years Batman has been about Gotham, even when he is with the JLA he always comes back to Gotham. When does have international adventures it is almost always connected to some crime that has happened in Gotham. Having Bruce shift the burden onto to Dick on the weight of 4 or 5 issues alone is a contrivance by Morrison. This is what he does, just look at his New X-Men run. He isn't bad writer he just has no respect for continuity and despite the crap both Quesada and DiDio spout continuity is vital for an ongoing serial.

As a Batman fan, I don't think this is crap at all.

We have a man who's dedicated his entire life to becoming a symbol. He is FINALLY taking another step forward to that goal. He's been cleaning up Gotham for years, yet it's still rotten. Maybe, if you change the world around it, then the city itself will be forced into a better place with the rest of the world becoming all clean.

I like where this is headed, although I'm kinda sad that this might mean retiring Dick's Nightwing costume/identity. However, the whole situation seems a lot like what's going on with Steve Rogers and Bucky. Those who are more in the know, do you guys think that this move of DC was a reaction to Marvel or something they decided to do on their own? I'm honestly curious.

I don;t think so, It's probably a case of two guys having similar ideas at the same time. I know I remember reading an Brubaker interview in a Wizard a while back and he was more afraid people would think he ripped off the time traveling idea from Lost since that episode came out before the reveal in the Cap books came out. So it is possible more than one person can have the same idea in this case.

Although it's not exactly like the situation with Steve and Bucky. Steve gave the Cap identity to Buck while he became the new "top cop" in the marvel universe. Although I think we all know Steve is going to wear the costume again by the time the movie comes out. Bruce and Dick are both going to be Batman in this situation, and try and recruit others around the world to wear the symbol.
