Biggest Toku Dissapointments Ever!

Anywho, for me all of Faiz was a horrible disappointment.

Most of Kiva and Decade as well.

My biggest disappointment is there was never a Kuuga movie.

Some personal disappointments:


Kamen Rider Kabuto -

The series in general. Kabuto is a big disappointment for me mostly for the fact that it has so many great concepts that are used so poorly. The "Masked" and "Rider" forms, the high speed "clock up" concept and the Worm infiltrating human society are all great ideas and I feel that in the right hands Kabuto could have made for an incredible series. Heck, I even LIKE the idea of Tendou as a character (and his relationship with Kagami). However, it seems like the writing team just wasn't up to the task. Everything is lost in the execution of the story.

People like to talk about what Rider series they'd like to see adapted for the US and honestly my number one pick would be Kabuto. I'd just really like to see those ideas get a second chance.

Yeah, I for one agree. I mean, the show had a lot of potential, but the problem was that the writers lack a lot of effort in ever trying to add Grandmother Tendou as a wise person on screen, if they had any thought of showing Grandmother Tendou in one of Tendou's flashbacks. But, aside from Tsurugi-kun/Sasword's character, the rest need some work.

The toku disappointments that really saddened me were KR THE FIRST and THE NEXT. They had good suits, good stunts, and a good budget. The problem was that their stories were just half assed. So half assed that I'm ashamed of showing them to my friends as an intro to Tokusatsu. Their supposed attempt at being "mature" or whatever the hell they had in mind just completely ruined the storylines for these movies.

Yeah, I mean they should have hired better writers or at least have the original Ichigo and Nigo make a brief cameo in either one of those films.

Decade, i had such high expectations and it turned out to be what it was.
And Goseiger for presenting such a strong motif and setting and not using it properly.

The problem is the economics of movie theatres in Japan where one of the biggest audiance they always try to bring in is young single female. What do young single female like at the movies? ROMANCE. So unless you're a kid flick you gotta work that romantic angle if you want to draw in the crowds.

Heck that's how they got to show Pearl Harbor in Japan, by making the marketing focus on the romantic subplot.

the FIRST was tolerable... but they blew the whole sub-franchise off with the next... they could've just made a by-the-book origin story of V3 and probably have riderman in it... the actions scenes where great but the whole horror plot was too horrible and too forced... i was hoping they could continue this type of movies until black, where we could get an updated shadowmoon story... but THE NEXT blew my hopes for it

I'm not sure how well THE NEXT preformed in the box office, because its been a few years now with no announcements about any follow ups. I was under the impression that they'll keep it going, I heard a rumor that they were supposed to make either a Riderman movie or an X movie after THE NEXT. As for BLACK, I'd love to see an updated version of the whole saga. They can do some really badass designs(SIC anyone? ) for the suits.

Rumor has it that they scrapped the costumes from The First and The Next to make the gold and silver suits from the Cho Den-O movie.

The Next tanked. Really, really, really hard. Of all the modern Kamen Rider movies, it has by far the smallest gross. I wouldn't mind seeing Toei try something like The First/Next again, but if they do they should probably not go to Toshiki Inoue to write it.

the whole black saga would be epic... but i would rather not have it if they would do the same thing they did with THE NEXT...
