[Cartoon] Beware The Batman -TALK UP

So the first episode premiered today.

I'm kinda torn about this series. I like the fresh ideas they used and Alfred seems like more of a badass, but at the same time…I'm not really digging Mr.Todd and Professor Pyg as villains. I get that they're trying something new, but somehow it doesn't feel like a batman show without the familiar villains and faces.

It wasn't terrible, I'll stick with the series and series is off to a good start. I'll stick with it and see where it goes.

Actually I think it is necessary that none of the "A List" show up, at least for a while.

They are going for a very different Batman here. We see him get hurt quite a bit. To be frank he is a little in over his head, which is a refreshing take. In this world we see that Batman needs support and, for once, Batman admits it. Which I think means this probably going to end up being a Batman and the Outsiders series.

We have Simon Stagg already introduced so Metamorpho can't be too far behind. Plus Michael Holt shows hints at a more robust hero line-up than we expected.

That said I think overall the show is trying to find it's legs. And while the new Alfred is interesting his voice just isn't jelling for me. Honestly I think it was a mistake to make this character Alfred. He is a perfect example of when you are trying new ideas it's best to avoid the "A List", that way you are dealing with fewer preconceived notions. If anything he reminds me more of Dan Turpin than Alfred.

Yeah, the freshness was one of the things that I liked about the show. I just hope it lasts long enough to get to the A list villains...

I was more distracted by the fact that Alfred looks like Lex Luthor. I hate to say that a single character design completely took me out of the show but..

He looks more like Silas from TF Prime to me.


One of my issues is that Anthony Ruivivar actually sounds duller as Bruce Wayne than Batman. Though when I first heard him (as Batman) I thought it was Steven Blum :laugh:

That first episode was... Not sure if like or dislike. :sly:

It really left me asking so many questions. Like:
--Why does Batman look tall, unrealistically slender, and has seemingly soft features while their Bruce Wayne character model looks perfect?
--Why is Alfred bald? I might actually get use to this new interpretation of Alfred if he had some hair. Some grey/dark gray hair would look PERFECT on him! He'd almost look like the Alfred from the Christian Bale/Christopher Nolan movies!!! :shakefist
--Who is that voice actor and why did they pick him for Batman? At first, I thought it was Steve Blum. Wikipedia says it's actually someone else, but it's still not a very good match. I know he's reprise the roll a billion times by now, but I actually miss Kevin Conroy!

And I can't say the majority of the episode kept my attention, but that ending did make me interested. :hmm:

Okay, so episode 2 is definitely much better then episode 1.

Magpie was a much more interesting villain. I might not like the animation style, but I love watching it during fight scenes, those are pretty well done I have to say.

Overall, this series has my attention, enough to keep going with it I think.
