Loved Batman TAS. Mostly because the stories and the writing was just so down to earth. I've always loved Batman as a comic hero the most because he was just a regular guy who tried to put the fear into the villains instead of the villains putting the fear into him
My favorite thing about the TAS series is the way they handled all the villains. Most of the best villains had such a sympathetic story line to them, with a powerful score that made the impact of their stories that much more emotional. Like Two Face, Clayface, or Mr. Freeze. Their stories were done so well, and you really connected with them. You empathized with them, cared for them.
Also, Batmans villains weren't always super criminals with weird mutations. Sometimes, it was just a normal mob boss. Or a lesser type villain like Zeus.
And the whole series just had this... great, early 1900s setting to it. It had it's own visual style and place to call home, that didnt involve the future. And the cops and robbers used real guns. Not lasers or beams. Bullets and ammunition.
The whole thing just felt timeless. I like the Kids WB continuation of it, as well. Some of the things they did were great. But they did tend to dumb some villains down as just thugs instead of actual characters with depth and background.
I hated The Batman show on WB. They turned Mr. Freeze into just some petty diamond thief. And the penguin was this awesome martial artist. I just hate how wild and wacky it all was sometimes. And Bruce Wayne looked like Jackie Chan. I couldnt help myself from speaking all of his lines in Jackie's voice.
