Anime vs. Tokusatsu

Hell even typical action series like Gantz,

Hahaha >_>

It's not fair to compare the two. Anime is a broad concept of anything animated, tokusatsu is generally live action special effects action/ drama/ scifi, more comparable to specific genres of anime, i.e. action/ power suits/ mecha.

There's a lot of **** out there in anime. There's a lot of **** in tokusatsu. There's a fair amount of decent stuff in anime, and a fair amount of decent stuff in toku.

Exactly, neither genre is perfect. I definitly can say that I'm more of a Gundam fan, then Sentai or Kamen Rider fan

I'll admit though, seeing what next year's theme will be was always the thing that kept me intrested about Toku.

Especially Berserk and its non existent ending.
...Berserk doesn't have a non existent ending, Miura has wide-and-well planned out everything that will happen through the course of Berserk except for perhaps the first three volumes which seemed to be action filler until he decided what direction he wanted to take the series. Just because the series is slowly produced it doesn't mean there won't be an end.

Like Osamu Tezuka's Pheonix, for example. He worked on it his whole life and it's his life work but you didn't see people complaining about the schedule of how it was done. Berserk is Miura's life work and he plans to pretty much take his careful time on every aspect on it.
I'd disagree with that. Well maybe except for One Piece and some of JoJo's, otherwise I'm not the biggest fan of those shows.
I'm pretty sure ALL of Jojo sans Part 1 and Part 6 is just pure awesome. The design, style, and everything about it is much more unique than most manga or any medium out there period (including tokusatsu).

Needless debate.

When you get down to it what you have in anime is animation. A medium for telling stories through moving artwork. Tokusatsu, live-action special effects movie making used to tell stories. Both come with their own genres and stylizations. Pros and cons. Traditions and fads. ..and they both influence each other back and forth far more than most people and most fans of either one realize.

Are we seriously having this argument? :nono: :nono: :nono:

I feel like I'm the only one who likes both Anime and Tokusatsu.....

^^;;

No, I absolutely love both. I just think that most of what's out on the anime market right now is completely unwatchable. I like tokusatsu from just about every era, but I usually prefer anime that was made prior to 2001. The only newer anime that looks interesting to me is The Skull Man, but it looks like that doesn't have any chance in hell of coming to America, since all people want over here are bad shounen anime (Naruto) and lame comedies (Lucky Star). A friend recommended Gurren Lagann to me, to I think I'll check that out, too.

I saw this discussion taking place.

I saw someone say all anime's the same?

Guys.................... c'mon now.

Seriously.

You're telling me there's a bigger difference between GARO and Kamen Rider Kiva, than there is between Macross Frontier and GTO?

Seriously?

Congrats. You caught Michael's attention to this thread. Seriously, why did you have to make a thread about this?

Just saying, but seriously... :redface2: No offended to you, Keith. Really.

Naruto4Ever85 (6:26:12 PM): I can't believe people in that thread called naruto crap and other bad names. **** them all. I hope half of them get shot and the other half get cancer. Fucking assholes.

Excuse me, Jedibmoney, the next time, DON'T EVER POST IT HERE! I don't want to see his retarded comment. Ever.

Personally, IMO... anime is ok. I loved Dragon Ball (execpt Z and GT bullshit), Mabruaho, Digimon Season 1-3 (can't stand Data Squad).

I have to say this: Tokusatsu > Anime. I'm sorry, but I actually prefer Live-Action better.

That's all.

This is probally the best definintion of this entire thread.

Yet again you amaze me.

I personally like both mediums of toku and anime.
However, most animes have been dead to me recently. I used to like bleach but now it caught the "Naruto syndrome" which means they are making another stupid filler arc again :sly: and all the other animes are just reusing the same formula that's been done in every other anime for the last couple of years. The only anime I'm watching currently is Macross Frontier and that's about it.

Tokusatsu on the other hand is less appreciated by most people especially for anime fans who think that all tokus are like Power Rangers that they immediately think its a load of crap. But I guess that what makes me appreciate Toku more than anime because there are less Yaoi drawings being posted up in deviant art :anime:
