A question for "Ultraman fans".

Fixed. Don't speak for other people, it's really annoying. :/

Agreed.

I mean really, the next time anyone here is feeling like "oh I don't like this years Rider or this years Sentai" you should damn well try an Ultra show, be it new or old. Simple fact of life: toku has 3 big, iconic, long running, time honored franchises not just 2.

You're forgetting Godzilla and Gamera. It's more like five.

I think the YouTube video of Those two Kaiju and one of the Ultraman fighting, then one of the Kaiju's jaws get torn off, and fake blood splatters everywhere turned me off of the whole series.

As I mentioned in the Goseiger rumor thread, I'm a hemophobic. I couldn't really get into Kamen Rider Amazon for that reason as well...

Now if I never saw the video, I may be one of those die-hard Ultra fans

Strange anime blood doesn't bug me though...

Aw, ****, that's my bad, man... D: Don't let that clip turn you off to the series as a whole, though. It's just that Ultraman Ace is a particularly violent series because 1970s tokusatsu tended to be kind of insane in that regard. Even Godzilla was spouting arterial sprays in that decade!

Go watch Max, though. It's the second-best tokusatsu series of the past ten years, if you ask me.

I hate how certain fans are all "Ugh, why do people hate Ultraman?" or "Give Ultraman a chance." or "Ultraman always gets shoved aside." etc. It's really annyoing. That's one of the things which has kept me away from trying Ultraman for so long.

I'm sure Ultraman is probably good, but fans trying to keep pushing it down my throat drives me mad. To be honest, it's fans like these 'certain fans' which are probably the cause for some Ultra hate. If not hate, it's the reason some people don't watch Ultraman. Sick of reading your whining about it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch Ultraseven X. :anime:

Just to be fair, it's just two fan stirring this **** up, so please don't lump us all in together

I have tried Ultraman, but the action just feels to slow and hammy, the same reason why I ignore most Mecha fights. Giant people fighting other giant people have never really interested me.

Ummm giant people?? I see a giant NON-human "being" fighting monsters, aliens, etc. But that's me >_> ..We all know these are TV shows right? You know, make believe and such??

I know, that's why I said certain fans. That's the only thing I could do besides naming names. But I thought that'd be rude.

...I couldn't really get into the Ultra series because I can't tell any of the suits apart (Though Ive been trying to start Mebius or Max)

Wimp. :P

But seriously, when I was a kid, I've seen bloody gore in kaijuu eiga, especially in the classic Gamera films (where the blood was never red; Noriaki Yuasa thought that red blood was too upsetting for children) and later Godzilla films since 1972 (which had bloody violence up the wazoo, especially after Eiji Tsuburaya detested bloodshed in his work for similar reasons, with very few exceptions), and even dinosaur movies like One Million Years BC had dinosaurs biting each other and drawing blood.

And so I'm used to the bloody gore in superhero shows. You'll no doubt avoid 70s shows, because so many of them, especially Inazuman Flash (which had beheading and eye-gouging!), had ridiculous amounts of bloody violence!

But, of course, this is certainly not as extreme as, say, a George Romero movie. Stuff like this is quite mild by comparison.

I'm not going to sit through a series I dont like, and the core of Ultraman (the giant people fights) dont appeal to me.

Giant people?

You mean Godzilla, Gomora, Eleking, etc., are people?

You mean to tell me that I, John Paul Cassidy, a misanthropic kaijuu fan, have been living a lie!?! I thought I loved these characters because they WEREN'T people! (Maybe people in rubber suits, but still...)

Next thing you'll tell me, giant robots are people, too! Wearing plastic boxes, no less!

Seriously, I'm just playin' with ya'. I know you don't like giants, but never call kaijuu and giant robots "people!" :P

I can't really see how people can still say anything like this, there really isn't anything that makes them seem the same outside of use of silver and red. You can't tell me that Nexus (in any mood) looks anything like the original Ultraman, or that Tiga and 80 look alike at all.

I can tell Old-Gen and New-Gen Ultraman (Ultramen?...) apart, but when it comes to the suits I really can't tell.

I think the only one I'd be able to spot is Nexus.

Cause you're probably not truly a hemophiliac? Not that I'm disputing your claims, but it's likely you only show symptoms of it when it isn't as bad as you think.

Could be....It's weird. It only triggers on some things, and I never react when it's my own blood. ...I think it's more gory-ness that bugs me then blood.

Well, I hate needles too...maybe that's why I thought it was blood?...Meh, Iono. lol.

I don't like the gory stuff. Lol. I'll look at Max.

The first is GARO, am I right? :P

MEH! :loltongue:
