I agree but Madoka is just so OTT it does make me a little anxious ...

Madoka's not the only (or even the most recent) thing he's written. If people are REALLY worried, they should check out Gargantia. Excellent show and no over the top grimdark in sight.

Just in what I've seen Gargantia is also not too over the top silly. But the mecha in that show is not wearing a watermelon.

I agree, people need to look less at Madoka (which is, what, 3 years old now?) and more to his most recent series, Gargantia.

Also, bringing up Fate/Zero as a comparison of his work isn't really fair, as he had to write within a pre-set universe, where the ending and many of the characters' fates were already pre-determined, as it had to agree with the pre-established ending as set in Fate/stay night. F/sn was very clear on certain aspects of F/Z's story, such as the final pair, the fire, etc.

Interesting note, though, that I just remembered, is that, assuming we don't get executive meddling, we shouldn't have to worry about the story being changed halfway through. Urobuchi was at Sakura-Con 2 years ago, and at his panel, I'd asked what it was like writing Fate/Zero, having the ending pre-set and known by fans, and still making it interesting. His response was that it really wasn't any different from his normal method of writing, since he always writes the ending first, and works his way back from there. The bigger challenge is to keep the fans interested when they know how it ends, and he felt he was given enough leeway with the new characters to F/Z that he could do that.

Writing the ending first explains why the deactivated Chamber is in a frame of the OP in Gargantia.

But that's interesting knowing he already planned the ending of Gaim.

So, his eyes are like a slice of orange. Subtle, I like it. The sword isn't very subtle though. Also like that he's riding a horse!

The different arms don't look subtle at all... and what's up with the Watermelon arms? I guess that's the CGI power-up. I'm liking the bikes though.

Anyway, his base form is looking really cool in all those action shots.
