2012/2013 Kamen Rider - Kamen Rider Wizard... CONFIRMED.

I don't think that I would like Kamen Rider to go back to drama tone they had in the 2000's, where the Riders would wind up fighting each other over something so minor. Right now I like what they've done for the 2010's where the Riders can at least talk to each other. Thus partly restoring what Kamen Rider meant to many of us. As friends of justice.

Just going off of memory:
[hide]Yuusuke\Kuuga, Ryou\Gills, Shinji\Ryuki (Takumi\Faiz's a zombie but, I doubt he counts lol)[/hide]

Well beaten to death.:169: I forgot about those deaths. They damn sure didnt go out like Gentaro. And I said Main Rider. Gills is not a main Rider. And when did Yuusuke die I dont remember that? Its been years since I've watched Kuuga. And I meant in their series not movie. The point I was trying to make is Fourze is weak compared to the previous Riders.

Well to be fair, Den-O wasn't the best at handling its story and drama either. A lot of the main plot elements like Airi/Sakurai weren't even mentioned until the coinciding toy release and even afterward were on the backburner a lot.

I sometimes wonder if you introduce an anime fan to a toku like Fourze, that they will largely go along with the anime-ish wackiness because they're so used to it in 2D format. I have a friend who dabbles in anime who loves Fourze... whereas another friend who also watches anime didn't care for Den-O, but liked Ryuki and Faiz.

I enjoy some moments in Fourze but they manage to ruin it with their anime style comedy which has never been done in Kamen Rider before. Den O didnt even take it this far.

It's like Toei is trying to emulate Den-O and just getting worse and worse at it. W was the "ideal Den-O". OOO felt like a poor man's Den-O and the more recent Fourze episodes are getting tiresome with upping the intensity of the antics, especially Akiko-clone Yuki in the Aquarius episodes.

There was more to the early Heisei drama style than just Riders fighting each other. Kuuga had only one Rider yet had good enough drama with the other characters. It's not like you can have only one or the other.

Eh, I don't think Toei is trying to emulate Den-O specifically with Rider at this point. I do think with Fourze, the overall low ratings have probably lead Toei to want to gear the show more toward children, so they can at least maximize their presence with the target demographic.

So I don't think the problem is that Fourze is doing comedy, it's that it's doing comedy geared toward very small children. Japanese humor for small children tends to mean lots of broad slapstick, repetition of jokes, and BEING LOUD. A show that really panders in this style can get godawful irritating.

You can do comedy in a superhero story in a way that isn't reliant on these elements. You can do a show where the humor is in the character dialogue and situations, like Carranger or Kakuranger, or do a show like Kuuga where you deploy comedy to break tension between major dramatic scenes.

In short, the presence of comedy isn't what makes a show like Fourze feel immature. It's the style of comedy the show is using, and the overall tone of the writing. I don't think we'll see something more mature until the ratings get back to a healthier level.

Fourze can be serious when it wants to be too.

Implying that such a style of comedy was invented by anime. You are an anime fan.

FINALLY! I found someone who agrees!:castlerock:
What?! Half of this fandom agrees with you. I'd like to see someone say they liked Tendou more than Kagami.

Tendou and Kagami

I identified more with Tendou as well, but I shipped KagamixTendou. Difference? Of course it is! I liked them both, but Tendou was just more awesome for his 'I don't care attitude.;
