Nice Rider design. The belt doesn't look like a crown. Looks like a hand holding an orb.

There better be a main serious rider this time. Oh who am I kidding, there may not be one.

I am not expecting this show to be "dark" or "mature" (because it should be obvious Toei doesn't want to go down that route these days) but I think a jerk-ish hero is pretty likely. We've now had three years of nice guy Riders, and as mentioned, if Utsunomiya is the producer he'll be likely to favour a more aloof/arrogant type of hero - Takeru, Captain Marvelous, etc. I have to say I might welcome that if for no other reason than a change from the hackneyed and overplayed dynamic of "nice main Rider/antagonistic second Rider." Really the only Heisei-era show that's tried to reverse that cliché is Kabuto, which most people seem to hate; and even that doesn't quite count, since Kagami was more of the protagonist than Tendou.

I think there needs to be a medium between the "perfectly in tune with his powers" quality of say Kabuto and Double, and the "comically clueless and in need of assistance" quality of say OOO and Fourze (to an extent).

It's always fun seeing a character learn how to use his Rider powers effectively, evolving as a fighter at the same time, but it can be done without him coming off as inept for the sake of comedy.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Kabuto was a little over the top with his badassness. But my biggest thing is that I hope they tone the comedy down and make the main Rider a serious adult. I dont mind if the actor is a pretty boy girly man as long as he doesnt act like it. And if he has to learn how to be a effecient fighter I just dont want another Ankh or Kengo type character dictating the Riders actions. Throwing medals, switches and in this case rings.

I would be happy to see a Rider that has more of a serious to tone to him. Gentaro's attitude is too much sometimes. Maybe Wizard could be slightly arrogant or overconfident about his powers.

Gentaro can be wonderful when he's not acting like a cartoon character. That's the real issue, not allowing the comedy to overshadow the serious moments. OOO and (to a lesser degree, OOO's really felt shoehorned in) Fourze have this problem. Comedy has its place, so does drama. Mixing them together at the same time in the same scene hardly ever works... at least the way current Rider is doing it.

That's not even close to what anyone said they wanted. They're saying they want a slightly more down to earth character. Why would you automatically jump to such a stupid conclusion?

I agree. There is nothing wrong with lightheartedness and comedy, but Fourze has taken it too far.

Comparing it to the previous "goofiest" Kamen Rider, Den-O, Fourze's most dramatic moments have pretty much been the "Kengo trapped in the moon" and the Cosmic State debut episodes. Den-O on the other hand managed to spike the drama throughout the series (the kid who's mother die while he was out with his friends, the Yuuto/Airi/Sakurai relationship, episode 28) while keeping the goofy tone of the series.
