Awesome Games Done Quick 2019 Begins Today
If it feels like AGDQ 2019 snuck up on you this year, you’re not alone in that sentiment. It hasn’t been moved up — Awesome Games Done Quick has always been held during the first full week of the year. From this point forward, mark your calendars right after New Years.
The world-famous charity speedrun event has now been going for nine years and has managed to get bigger each time. It now pulls in millions for the charities it represents (typically, Prevent Cancer or Doctors Without Borders….the event streaming now supports Prevent Cancer). 100% of donated cash goes to the organization….the cost of running the show is covered by sponsors, whose logos appear during the stream.
It’s gonna be a great AGDQ 2019. Today alone we have Hollow Knight, a two-player Donkey Kong Country race, Majora’s Mask, Shadow of the Colossus, MGS2, Portal and Bomberman 64.
In the days ahead you can look forward to Vectorman, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, NiER Automata, Super Mario RPG, Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, Celeste, Pokemon Gold, Final Fantasy IX (yes, the whole thing) and Pocky & Rocky (yay, that game doesn’t get enough love). It wraps up Saturday evening with a traditional Super Metroid match.
You can keep up with AGDQ 2019 on Twitch via their website, or if you have access to a streaming device that has the Twitch app, you can watch it on your TV (I recommend this method). Let the race begin!
