Another week of video game speedrunning has come to an end, and it was over all too fast. But at least we’ll have our memories of Games Done Quick…and the YouTube archive of the whole thing, split up into each individual game for your convenience. Since you probably don’t have an entire week’s worth of spare time to watch everything, we’ve highlighted the speedruns that MUST be viewed above all else:
It always sneaks up on you: Games Done Quick is about to host another weeklong marathon starting tomorrow. Though GDQ hosts smaller events throughout the year, there are two big ones: Awesome Games Done Quick in January, and Summer Games Done Quick in June/July depending on the calendar. They are charity events — one raises money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation and the other raises money for Doctors Without Borders.
Whoa — Games Done Quick is back already? That one sure sneaked up on us. It usually returns for the first full week of the year, but we’re used to the first full week NOT starting as early as the 3rd. It’s active as we speak and there’s a lot of good content heading our way.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2019 was one for the record books, in every sense of the phrase. Not only was the old total for donations shattered, but some of the speedruns were the best ever. If it feels like AGDQ 2019 snuck up on you this year, you’re not alone in that sentiment. It hasn’t been moved up — Awesome Games Done Quick has always been held during the first full week of the year. From this point forward, mark your calendars right after New Years.
Another Games Done Quick marathon has come to a close, and this one was their biggest ever! For the first time in GDQ history, the event raised over $2,000,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation — twice as much cash as what GDQ generated one year ago.
Awesome Games Done Quick is a weeklong charity event that has been running for the last two years in which some of the Internet’s best and fastest players plow through the most popular games live, as quickly as they possibly can, for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This year’s marathon raised over a million dollars and had plenty of great moments for those watching live, but for those who didn’t, most of those moments have been archived on the AGDQ YouTube channel. Since watching them all would literally take a week, here are the highlights:
