Got nothing to do this weekend? If you’re like the near-majority of this country, you’re currently snowed in right now, so the answer is “yes.” Why not check out the Awesome Games Done Quick marathon? It’s back, just when we need it the most.
AGDQ 2024 will be held live, from the main ballroom of the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dozens of the world’s top video game speedrunners will shred through your favorite games, taking advantage of loopholes, stunts and glitches to break them down like never before! The weeklong event benefits the Prevent Cancer Foundation and you can shape the course of it by donating. Various prizes will be up for grabs, and you can also donate to vote on polls or to meet a crowdfunding goal for a special bonus game.
This year’s marathon starts at 9:00 AM Pacific with Tunic, and continues with Super Monkey Ball, Doukey Kong Country, DK64, F-Zero, Batman Arkham City and Ultimate Doom on just the first day. As the week goes on you’ll see The Typing of The Dead, Marble Madness II (an unreleased arcade game that didn’t leak out until last year), Mega Mans 3 and 8, Metroid Prime 2, Pokemon Diamond or Pearl (a vote will determine which), Bayonetta, the Dead Space remake, the original Legend of Zelda, Hades, Jak & Daxter, Starfield, Monkey Island 1 and 2 at once, Metroid Dread, The Last of Us, Gravity Rush, and Gyromite — played with the assistance of a dog instead of ROB!
Awesome Games Done Quick will run from January 14 through January 21, and can be watched live on anything that has a Twitch app.
