Launched last April, World War Z (based on the movie) is predominantly a multiplayer experience. You can play the main four-player co-op, utiilzing six distinct classes and tons of weapons and traps in locations set around the world, from New York to Moscow. Or you can try out Players Vs. Players Vs. Zombies, sending you against the undead and other players in any of the five modes:: Scavenge Raid, Vaccine Hunt, Swarm Deathmatch, Swarm Domination or King of the Hill.

As of today, there’s an additional mode, and it’s an intimidating one…the endless Horde Mode Z! One of the main selling points of World War Z when it launched was its “Swarm Engine” by Saber Interactive, specifically built to pack as many zombies into one screen as possible. With Horde Mode Z, you’ll really see what this engine is capable of.

In the mode, teams of up to four players face off against a never-ending wave of progressively harder zombie hordes. There’s no real way to win, but the longer you last, the better the prizes you’ll receive. In between rounds you can scavenge the area for better weapons and extra medkits, plus take the downtime to upgrade your firepower and defenses.

That’s not all either…today’s update adds the following additional things:

  • The Bomber: a special new zombie that drops an explosive when downed, which players will only have a few precious seconds to disarm.
  • New premium weapon skins, free for owners of the World War Z Season Pass, which bundles together all of the game’s first and second seasons of premium DLC.

World War Z is available now for Playstation 4, XBox One and PC via Epic Games Store.
