Two From Uncork’d: It Came From Below And Royal Jelly
We’re used to getting movie notifications from indie horror distributor Uncork’d Entertainment frequently, but their output seems to be slowing down. This coming month they have just two releases on the dock: It Came From Below and Royal Jelly.
In the first movie, a man claims to anyone who will listen that a monster lurks within the local lake and has claimed many victims. No one listens to him (all those disappearances are probably nothing to worry about, right?) so he sets out to the lake to prove the monster’s existence…and disappears himself. His daughter, Jessie, fears the worst and decides she has to rescue him. Deep in the caves below the lake, she’ll meet the source of the community’s terror. It Came From Below stars Megan Purvis, Tom Taplin, Jake Watkins, and Georgie Banks, and was written and directed by Dan Allen.
The second movie, Royal Jelly, is a riff on The Fly (Cronenberg version) where a reclusive high schooler named Aster cares about nothing but beekeeping. A mysterious figure named Tresa tells her she has much experience in the hobby and can show Aster everything she’s done — if Aster is dumb enough to follow a stranger into a weird house. Turns out she is, and now that she’s imprisoned in Tresa’s demented apiary, she could be mutated into the queen of her hive. We don’t have any further details for this one because Uncork’d repeated the press links for It Came From Below twice instead of posting two separate ones. Ah well.
It Came From Below will be out on digital platforms September 7 and Royal Jelly will be released September 14, both from Uncork’d Entertaiment.
