The Very First Harley Quinn Trailer Is Here
Warner Bros. dropped our first-ever look at their upcoming DC Universe Harley Quinn cartoon this afternoon (or this evening, depending on your time zone). It’s less than a minute, and it takes place in one room, but it tells you everything you need to know.
Specifically: this may be one of the most self-referential cartoons in all of existence. Harley’s little speech is so fan-centric and Internet-savvy it might as well have taken the form of a message board post (or a Popgeeks news bite). They’re clearly channeling Deadpool with this one, which is fine, because that’s one cartoon adaption we’ll never get. (And yes, Harley mentions that fact.)
One thing has changed between the time this show was announced and now…and by listening, can you tell what it is? That’s correct….Margot Robbie, originally promised for the cartoon, was unable to reprise her role as Harley. Instead, you’re hearing Kaley Cuoco, perhaps best remembered for her role as Billie on “Charmed.” Maybe Harley will finally be the part that catapults Cuoco out of obscurity and turns her into a star.
Other cast members will include Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, JB Smoove, Jason Alexander, Wanda Sykes, Giancarlo Esposito, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Tony Hale, Chris Meloni, and Diedrich Bader. The first season of Harley Quinn will be 26 episodes long and will premiere sometime in 2019.
