Tesco Direct leaks this year’s Call of Duty title
UK supermarket and online retailer Tesco has just posted a product listing for this year’s still-to-be-unveiled instalment of Call of Duty.
Assuming the listing is genuine, Call of Duty: Ghosts will release on December 13th on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The box art features Modern Warfare 2 protagonist Ghost (pictured) pulling his skull-patterned balaclava down over his face, which suggests the game could be a prequel to MW2, centring on his story. What is perhaps more interesting is Infinity Ward’s logo is present at foot of the image. This can only mean that the now completely reconstructed studio will be leading its development – something that has been in debate since the first-person shooter’s logo appeared on Neversoft’s website late last year.
We have contacted publisher Activision for comment.
UPDATE: Tesco have since withdrawn the listing from their site. Thankfully, we managed to save a copy of the box art before they did:
UPDATE 2 (April 25th, 2013): Twitter user @Wario64 has spotted an advert in the US which states Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available on November 5th – not December 13th as Tesco’s page claimed.

From what I remember, the information ‘leaked’ was on YouTube was unsubstantiated. Thanks to Tesco, that info is now a bit more credible. The box art however is new, and wasn’t leaked two weeks ago…

Hi James,
I looked into this, and indeed, the title and some game details were revealed by a guy on YouTube who was tipped off by a Call of Duty insider, but Steve’s right. The box art is a new tidbit, if you will, and this is the first time the title has appeared as a product on a retailer website…
Many thanks for checking out the article though! 🙂
