Embracer Lets Go: Swedish Megacorp Splits Into Three
A couple years ago an investment firm emerged from Sweden with the sinister name of Embracer Group. The company proved their name by going on an insane purchasing spree across the globe, buying out dozens of other companies in an incredibly short time. Embracer’s entire plan hinged on the belief that rich Saudi investors would pick up the tab. They did not. It’s a blessing in disguise that Embracer failed, because if this scheme hadn’t collapsed, having one corporation control all those others wouldn’t have been good for anyone but the handful at the top. They have announced plans to break the company up into three smaller ones, which are still comparatively large, but not AS large. The names they picked for these companies are…interesting.
